Hard to believe when it is the last day of winter
and they are budding out already.

Everything is budding. I gotta rake my living room because the Golden goes in and out 10 times a day and brings in a load of oak seeds, pollen and leaves in his fur each time.

After last summer I decided to go with over wintering old stuff and new seeds. Not gonna waste money on vegetable plants already growing. The only exception might be a few flowers. There's a gardening sale the last Sat of March in Shreveport where you can buy flowers from local home gardeners at reduced prices. Gonna check it out.

I'll also have to pull a couple of azalea bushes that died. But this is the fourth time in 16 years that two azalea bushes have died in those spots (flanked by 4 healthy bushes.) Maybe I should try a different kind of bush.

It's crazy back home in Chicago as they've been in the 70's regularly this month. I still wouldn't rule out another snowfall though.

isn't that weird when that happens? we had a couple spots where we always had to replace and there were healthy ones on each side... same dirt, same fertilizer, same everything...

Squatch or black panther marking their territory is the only logical answer.

Mine hasn't yet, but we're watching it closely. Going to be a hell of a summer. Already tons of wildlife chewing on the garden.

Bake some Pecan Pie, Cookies, or German Chocolate Cake with Pecans!!!

I love pecans. When I was a child, there was a house down the block from us and my mom would take me to pick the pecans off their tree (may have been trespassing but whatever). We used to bake cookies with them.

Pecans (and Walnuts) add a lot of texture/crunch/flavor to desserts. I even like pecans in salad.

I'm the exact same way. I have to get my parent's to mail me Lazy Magnolia's Southern Pecan because we don't get it here.
