I was in Buffalo recently and tried the Anchor Bar, supposedly the originator of the flavor and sauce.

Waste of time.

I mean you could really get a better wing or wing sauce at TGI Fridays or the airport. How do you not know your product borderline sucks when you are supposedly the originator??? I was in shock that it was that much of a dud.

You went to the tourist trap - Anchor Bar is like 4/5th tier in Western NY nowadays.

I went there. About 10 years ago.

Wasn’t impressed with the wings either.

I think people go there because they were the creators.

It is a really cool place to visit and I recommend going there if you are in Buffalo. Just don’t expect good wings.

I was in Buffalo in 1988 doing a vendor audit on someone Baxter was doing business with and they took me there the night before the audit.

The beer was pretty good. Everything else was pretty bad.

Their operation was well within the criteria for an acceptable vendor, so I passed them. It was a long time ago, but I still remember how disappointed I was with the wings.

I've never had them, but they don't look appealing in photos. I like Mr. B's style of doing them.

I have no experience with that place but it’s amazing how many restaurants and food service places stay around with a terrible product. Good wings are very easy: proper temp oil, decent wing product, right amount of time, and wing sauces are simple and the mainstays mild/ hot/ medium are literally just butter and hot sauce. Very frustrating how any bar can put out a crap wing product frankly.
