A Jay Ducote thread is guaranteed to bring out the salty haters. Can't knock the guy for his hustle or the fact that he's a good ambassador for the Baton Rouge food scene.
I think it is just jealousy. Jay is good at what he does and he is a nice guy.

Exactly. If you are a media figure who is a purported expert or interpreter of particular topics, then expect that people will like/dislike/criticize. It comes with the territory. This lame “boosterism”, in which no one is supposed to do anything other than cheer simply because the person is local, is tired. Look, we have an excellent food scene in south LA....but we don’t have the greatest tradition of quality media coverage around it. Local newspapers tend toward goofy home ec food coverage, outdated/no longer relevant media figures (looking at you, Tommy Fitz), mainstream restaurant criticism, or tired variations of tourist-driven nonsense.
I keep waiting for some thoughtful, interesting stuff to emerge. Are there podcasts i”m missing (so hard to find/keep up with those)?

There's a big difference between legit criticism and being a hater. Every time Jay's name pops up there are hating-arse comments. There were people going on about how Government Taco was going to be a bust, because he wasn't a chef. Calling the guy a "slapdick", comments about his weight -- that's just being salty. Getting on Tom Fitzmorris for praising Zatarain's jambalaya is fair game.

Jay is supposed to be on GMA this morning and have a shout out from Gameday sometime later. Heard him talk about it on AFR.

I tried listening for two days.
Way too many I appreciate you’s, and thank you so much’s. The show feels too soft without a strong radio voice, and so much politeness being thrown around.
When I listen to Glenn Beck, I’m anxious for every word because I believe it could be substantial. With Jays new show, I’m hoping over segments that the subject will change. It’s not just local vs. national either. The guy that’s on 107.3 in the mornings has great content, with only a mediocre radio voice. He talks local politics and issues, and sometimes breaks into the national scene.
Will give the Jay show more chances, hoping it gets into the groove. But it certainly needs an edge or I’ll be checked out.

quote:It is like sitting next to two or three guys in a restaurant seeing how loud they can talk so everyone hears them. Shooting the shite, reminiscing, tasting each others food, etc. The fact that is is being broadcast as is is amazing. And before the down votes, I like Jay. I just don't like this show and it's lack of a format.

Walk-On's should give Jay a lot of money to revamp their menu and to teach them how to cook & prepare the food.
Cane's should also pay Jay a lot of money to add a few more items to their menu.
Calandro's on Perkins needs to have Jay teach them how to make lasagna. It was horrible last week. And of course give Jay a lot of money.
Walk-On's needs to give Jay's brother a lot of money to open & run a Walk-On's in Knoxville with their new menu inspired by Jay.
Is Chuck P the radio dude that wears an eye patch and calls himself Chucker?

Do you want canes to turn into Zaxby's or something? Simplicity is the reason why canes thrive.

I can't remember the last time I had even a semi-bad meal at WalkOns. New locations are springing up all across the South and all are doing quite well.
Same with Cane's.
Don't try to fix something that's not broken.

Like the effort but no way this should be a daily show. Good luck
