My wife dropped a 12 inch cast iron Lodge skillet on the tile kitchen floor and the skillet actually cracked (I couldn’t believe it) and the tile floor did NOT (I couldn’t believe it)
It was my favorite piece of cast iron. .
Edited to add that I’m extremely glad it didn’t crack my kitchen tile.

Did you make her sleep outside last night?

Had a similar situation, the handle snapped clean off. Still use the skillet to this day though, just have to grab it with an oven mitt.

Just means you are in the market for a new 12" skillet, should throw in a new knife for emotional distress. It's only fair.

Only fair.
In addition to a replacement, I've got my eye on this Lodge 15" carbon steel.

Run up to South Pittsburgh, TN to the Lodge factory Store. Worth the trip!

I’m only 40 minutes away. Want me to go grab you something?

I dropped a small pyrex-type glass bowl on the tile floor. I prepared for the crash, but it actually bounced. Watched it tumble and fall back to the floor and winced in anticipation of the explosion, and it bounced again. I’m golden, I thought, but it shattered into a million pieces on the third strike of the floor.

People do not realize how fragile cast iron really is. I’m nervous right now because I just shipped out this vintage cast iron corn sheller (shucker).
All it will take is for the idiots at the post office to drop it. It’s not big, so the 16 lb small package is deceiving.
