Its a cheap, pretty good wine that goes well with turkey...forgive me.
It's just so damn sweet.
What about a lower end Burgundy or Oregon pinot noir? Maybe a mencia from Spain? There really are plenty of options of decent wines to go with turkey.

Clooney, have you tasted the duBoeuf this year? i didn't find it at all sweet. It has some fruit, but it's crisp. I tasted a lot of green apple in it. I think it'll go really well with all the heavy casseroles. Plus, it's cheap enough to serve to my brother and his brood of winos. Happy Turkey Day!

I haven't, and I'm sure it will be good. My only point was that it's frustrating how so many people (including many in my own family) assume Beaujolais is the only wine that can be poured on Thanksgiving. Plenty of other good, moderately priced stuff out there that goes well with Thanksgiving food.
That being said, I hope everyone eats and drinks whatever he/she wants and has a great Thanksgiving.

Rombauer Chard. Nice and buttery to go well with the turkey.

Rombauer does make a nice chard!
And, for those of us looking to help the Gulf Coast, Clear Coast winery is donating $4 from every bottle to Gulf Aid. They have the usual assortment, and retail for about $15 a bottle. I've tried the cab and chard and for $15, they are a hell of a bargain. In NO, they are available at Dorignac's and Martin's, and a few other outlets.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Brewer-Clifton 2008 Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills
In spite of the fact that I had been assured (by Robert Parker's "Wine Advocate" website, no less) that this wine was "drinking nicely," in fact it was no where near being ready to drink. And I decanted it two hours ahead of time. So, about 30 minutes before dinner time I searched thorough my wine fridge and grabbed a bottle of the 2006 Hartley-Ostini Hitching Post Pinot Noir Rio Vista Vineyard and a bottle of the 2008 Chalone Vineyards Chardonnay from Monterey. Both wines were good and my guests seemed pleased. By last night the Brewer-Clifton pinot was drinking okay, but it was simply too soon to open it. I think I have about 4-5 more bottles of that particular wine and they will sit right where they are for a couple of years.
I also have 3 bottles of the 2007 Brewer-Clifton Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir and I'm guessing that they won't be ready for at least 3-4 more years.

What's the alcohol level on those Brewer Cliftons? I used to really like their wines, but about seven or eight years ago, they really jacked up the alcohol levels, to 15+% on alot of their pinot noirs. I don't know if they changed styles or what, but I don't think pinot handles that kind of alcohol well and I dropped off the list. I actually complained on Parker's board and Steve Clifton (or Greg Brewer, I forget which) emailed me and said if I didn't like them to send them back and he'd refund my money. I did and he did. Really nice guys, first class all the way, and I absolutely love what Clifton is doing with Italian varietals at Palmina, they are some of my favorite CA wines.

I did open one of my 2005 Brewer Cliftons. Decanted it and let it sit for 3 hours. Was very good, but definietly can go another 3 years or more to reach its full potential.

And Greg Brewer is the winemaker at Melville and IMO their wines are on a par with Brewer-Clifton, but sell at a lower price. Plus, they make syrah, which Brewer-Clifton does not.
Melville Winery

I used to be on Melville's list too, but dropped off for the same reason, too much heat in their pinot noirs. I really liked the Inox though, it was one of my favorite CA chards. Well, that's not saying much as I don't really like CA chard.
I like their viognier too.

After drinking 3 bottles(not in one setting) of duBoeuf nouveau....I have declared this a bad year for the nouveau....and IMHO the worst of the last 3 years.....Who knows...maybe my palet is changing.

I know it's after Thanksgiving, but we had Antano Rioja Crianza 2007.
