Should I make a reservation? New restaurants in BR = packed for months. I hate waiting for a table at a place that I'm unsure about.

But man, don't you get it, it's all you can eat!!!!
LOL!

For a couple to eat their, you are talking $125 to $150 after drinks and tip. Sorry. Not doing that. I can go to many great restaurants and get real service and very nice food for less than that.

You don't go there for the quality of meat. You go there for the quantity.

chris', flemings, and sully's are all great filets .. to mention them in the same breath as TDB is insulting ... now, if you have the half price coupon, it's a decent deal .. but at $50 or so it's not ..

that kind of restaurant is not what we are used to here in the states. I have been to Brazil and there they sit around for 3-4 hours just eating and drinking and talking. So $50 at Texas de Brazile is not a bad deal if you take the right approach and take your time to enjoy yourself

so is ryan's and so is golden corral, for 1/5th the price .. hell, the meat at golden corral isn't much worse ... the all you can eat part of it is part of the perception that you are getting this wonderful value .. if you like it and wanna buy into it, go for it ..

yeah, but like you said, we just don't do that here, soup and i'm not so sure they'd really want the whole place sitting there for four hours .. especially when they are only open for five hours for dinner ..

in brazil people get up and eat a light breakfast and head to work for 9am, they eat lunch for an hour around 1pm then they take another hour or so off until about 3pm. They work until 5:30-6pm then head home. Usually they eat dinner around 8pm but if they go to a restaurant like this, they will get there and stay there until 11pm-12am eating, drinking and cutting up the whole time.

It is very common for them to eat dinner at 9 or 10pm on a regular work night. On the night of a big outing they think nothing of eating dinner at 12AM. They are very much an "eat when you get hungry, rest when you are tired" kind of culture and they think our ideas of scheduling our lives (8am work, noon lunch, dinner at 6pm, go to bed at 10pm, etc) is sort of quaint

Well no shite. I went to a restaraunt and took a certain amount of bites while eating. fricking genius.

I've never been to TdB but based on other mid level Churrascarias I'd say you just weren't up to the challenge if you didn't get 12 ounces of meat.

I went to one about a year ago... but have not been to the one here yet. I'm counting the days till we go. I LOVED the experience of it.. it was a group of friends and we had a blast. Is it overpriced? yes Are most things overpriced these days? yes.. You can't go there thinking I need to eat my 50 bucks worth.. you go to enjoy it.
