Going to N.Y. during Mardi Gras and it is on my list. What does a table of 4 order? 1 heavy eater and 3 light to medium eaters. How does their payment system work? Cash or debit? Reservations?

Cash only. Get a reservation. When I went we ordered several tyors of sides for the table and a few apps to all sample. The bacon is a must have. For main course, just get a porterhouse for the table. It's precut for you and easy to serve 4.

Is this why those c-raks and cone beams are so expensive?

Yep. Those are certainly making the trip easy. Just need a few more and i will make the incentive trip to Bunkie. Happy Thanksgiving. It has been too long....and I don’t sell c-raks anymore. How about a chair, unit and light?

For a table of four...

Apps - ask the waiter for the off menu chopped salad. It combines the tomato & onion salad with the grilled thick cut bacon and chopped chilled shrimp. Dress it with the steak sauce. Add in an order of the split lamb chops and your starters are set.

Main - Porterhouse. For a table with a couple of light eaters you'll be fine with a steak for two. Sides of german potatoes, cream spinach and onion rings.

Dessert - ice cream sundae, streudel with schlag

Your post just made my mouth water with anticipation. I'll probably never make it to N.Y. but I'd sure not pass a chance to eat at Peter Luger's if I ever do go there.

I can’t imagaine eating a steak pre-sliced, that’s the best part is carving that thing up and stuffing your face

I opted for Keens instead of Peter Lugers on my trip next week

The exact order for the wife and minus the dessert. We eat sweet stuff later. I do wish we could cut our own but so be it.

There have been times that I've come close to only ordering the schlag. The streudel is quite good but it truly is an excuse to eat a bowl of schlag. Um, schlag.

That said, the sundae is killer.

Easily my favorite steak sauce. As said, definitely get the bacon, German potatoes, and creamed spinach.

Had Keens last week and did another night at Old Homestead. Both were magnificent.
