Those of us that frequent this site regularly have some fun on occasion(some of us have a different sense of humor than others), but we all enjoy food...all aspects of food...as a necessity,a luxury,an industry ,and an indulgence.
I hit a chain on occasion(there is a local impact)but please support your local eateries. They are the heart and sole of your community...support them. If an establishment disappoints you,let the appopriate personnel know...if they deserve your patronage, they'll listen and correct a problem should there be one.Let's get to the forefront in supporting our food heritage and reputation. It all starts...and belongs...at home.

Franchise owners disagree. I'd say they are just as local.

Post doesn't disregard franchises...reread it. But, the point is don't blindly follow the crowd.

Grant it I will never step inside Boutin's however I agree with you, I live in the city park area of BR and hardly venture out for food or entertainment because its all local.

My dining expenditures consistently go to family owned venues. The only real exception is when I'm traveling with someone else and I HAVE to eat at one of THOSE places.

I love local. I especially love the places that look the shittiest on the outside, usually means its been there a while and they serve great food therefore they don't care what it looks like. Best way to tell you're at a good dive is: clientele is culturally diverse, more diverse the better. Cherry on top is a cop eating there, they know all the good local spots.
