Sitting here thinking about Sunday night suppers. It’s often the simplest meal of the week for me. Fruit, cheese, bread....egg salad, a few leftovers repurposed, or something light.
What’s your Sunday evening food routine? (If I’m cooking, it’s usually Sunday lunch.)

Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are wine nights, so usually they are meals I spend most time cooking. Monday and Wednesday are usually leftovers pulled from the refrigerator or freezer.

Sunday is a big cook for me.

Currently turning 17.28 pounds of pork shoulder into stew. Been going since about 1.

Pre covid we usually do Friday night dinners with friends, LSU football parties, and cook for Saints games. So if Saints play at noon or on Monday night I don't cook on Sunday nights. Non football season I sometimes cook something low and slow all day.

See I like that. Football is about family and friends. Not just the game. Cheers.

Sunday’s are sometimes my best opportunity to cook meals for the week. Regardless, they are rarely light food days.

Half a cast iron skillet thick ribeye, stuffed potato and a watermelon, pesto and fresh mozzarella Napoleon.

When I was a kid it was common for our family to head to one of our aunt's house for dinner. My Grandma lived with my aunt and uncle and between those two Cajun women, they could cook up a huge meal every week.

There would often be 10 or more people at my aunt's house every Sunday to eat and the menu would be something like this:

Pork or beef roast with rice and brown gravy OR meatballs and red gravy with pasta for the entree's. Then they'd have a salad of some sort, fresh French bread, iced tea, lemonade or homemade root beer made with Zatarain's Root Beer Extract.

There would also be at least a couple pies or a cake for desert and the requisite cafe' au lait to wash it down.

I do all the cooking around the house since I'm retired and do love to cook and we have something hot and homemade every day.

Growing up my mom our most frequent Sunday meal was roast beef with rice and gravy, some kind of peas or butterbeans, and broccoli with hollandaise. I still do this a lot on Sundays. I usually cook something on Sunday that I don't have time to cook during the week after work
