For those of you who use propane and a hairdryer, may I ask why not use a cheap heat gun? Same principle as the looflighter.

This. There's a plethora of Youtube videos out there that compare the Egg and Joe side by side. The Egg is built well, no arguements there, but the Joe just seems to be more friendly.

lid closes more smoothly when dropped
vent on top has better functionality and doesn't change it's adjustment when opening or closing

lots of other little things like that. Egg is a great product, but Joe is just better designed.

Can’t disagree with that. If I had to buy today, it would be a KJ. I love my egg but KJ offers way more with their newer grills now.

First off, they are great to cook on. Especially if you want to do high temp stuff like steaks or pizza.

You should have stopped here and would be correct.

They do pretty well for smoking, but require a watchful eye. If you want to smoke, I'd get a smoker honestly.

What?!? They require no watchful eye. They're ceramic and hold heat, similar to an oven, which is why they are perfect for smoking.

I would definitely get an electric charcoal coal starter if your gonna use natural charcoal.

OK, now I don't believe you've used one before. IF you're going to use natural charcoal isn't for discussion with a ceramic cooker.

I may look at Kamado Joes as well and see about a group buy possibility. I talked to Primo about becoming a dealer and should be able to save y’all a decent chunk.

Used cooking oil on a paper towel works for me. I don't need to be near an outlet. And the KickAsh basket eliminated any slow to start problems I had.

I use a MAP torch without any issues. I light it and then go prep food. It’s ready when I am, they really dont take that long to heat up.

Here's a tip for anyone having issues with this. Put the screw on the vent towards you. Youll never lose your setting this way.

Yeah, the vent changing position is not an issue when it's put on the grill in the right position, i.e. the words facing away from you. The raised lettering holds the daisy wheel in place. Now if you have the whole thing slid off to the side, it will switch position, but I only have it like that when starting the fire or doing something like a pizza where I just want it as hot as possible. If I lose position when opening, I'm not trying to find that perfect position, just throw it open again.

So far its looking like I can save yall off MSRP 30% on Primo stuff or 22% on Kamado Joe stuff. Have to figure out other parts of it. May look at BGE too if yall want. Would likely have to pick one brand tho.

I need to look at the shipping cost to me and min order amount among a few other things. If the minimum isn’t too bad maybe I can do both brands if we can hit the numbers. This includes all there accessories and carts.

Add another vote in the "for" column. I got a BGE XL and it's fantastic.

If you like to smoke big meats like brisket or pork butt, get yourself one of these:

It links to an app in your phone, you can check pit and meat temp, change setpoints, etc... Here's a pulled pork I did a little while back:

I’m bumping this to say I’m in if you get it figured out. I’ve been eyeing a primo xl for about a year now

I will. I’m on vacation with the fam atm so it’s held up. But I’m pretty sure something will be popping off. Need to figure out logistics and whatnot. I will tho and keep this thread updated.

BGE guy here, nothing else to really add to the thread except be diligent with your cover when not using!

I don’t cover my primos. They are not 100% exposed but they are right on the edge of the roofline. Never have issues. What happens to your BGE?
