It's a great crawfish boil or after yardwork/hot weather kind of beer. It's kind of strong too.

Best Beer Abita Brews IMO!
I just started seeing 12oz 6pks here is Georgia in April.
Great "good night" beer!

I like Abita Strawberry & I like Andygator, the 2 together are NOT good, way too sweet. A friend of mine tasted one & said it tasted like strawberry cheesecake, I tend to agree

I disagree. I think Anita strawberry is kind of cloying. Strawgator has a little more heaviness, which balances the strawberry flavor, in my opinion.

Bet you were real happy after about an hour or so when the Andygator bites.
I remember before the explosion of local breweries and the high ABV IPA's, Andygator was one of the strongest beers around. And for some reason it would hammer me real good every time.

Yep. First time I went to the brewpub(probably 18 or so years ago), I ordered a Andygator because the name sounded cool. They served it to me in a small glass and I asked why. They explained the high ABV stuff. I got a nice buzz off of two of them. I'm pretty sure it was a higher alcohol content back then as well.

Yeah it was the beer most responsible for getting me to branch out from the typical stuff.
I could swear it used to be over 10% ABV. We got a keg of it at the 2008 Bama game and it turned into a real shitshow

AndyGator was originally brewed as a Barley Wine. ABV was somewhere north of infinity. Used to get it in ponies.
I want to recall that the ABV was dropped to around 8% in order to be able to distribute it to other states where that was the max ABV limit.

I actually like Strawgator way better than the 2 by themselves. They balance each out other very well IMO

yes andygator used to have a bite. Many poor decisions in my past under the andygator influence. I haven’t had one in years thought
I really like strawberry catahoula. Much drier and easier to drink
