I haven't been to Nola so I can't comment. I have been to both CP and Stella within the last 13 months. Stella, to me, is more formal, quiet, avant-garde, esoterical, with hyper-attentive service. CP seems a little more celebratory. They both have stellar (no pun intended) food. I think with the group described, I would vote CP. The meal I had there last Easter was superb. Stella was as well but it just seems like a smaller and more intimate place and probably better suited to a table for two or four.
From a food standpoint, I don't think you can go wrong with either of the two. Sorry I couldn't help more with Nola, though.
Cheers

Stella is way too expensive and too stuffy for me. Commanders is ok. Ok food, good service, but the valet is nice. I love Nola. It is casual. The food is great. You can park at Jax and walk over. The duck on the evening menus is mind blowing and the brisket on the lunch menus is almost as good at half the price. Agree with the comment about the wings at Nola, they are tasty. The Duck confit pizza was highly recommended by several members of the staff, but i wouldnt order it again. Go to Nola.

good service
You must have the highest standards ever if you think CP's service is simply "good".
They might be the best in the entire USA in that regard - certainly unequalled in New Orleans.

Stella! was like heaven. Greatest food I've ever eaten but not suited for graduation party/dinner. Go with CP and head to Stella! another night

I am about to commit a sacrilege. Are my wife and I the only ones who think Stella! tends to be slightly overrated? Actually, we have a couple of friends who agree. And for what it's worth, we eat out a lot.
While I think the food at Stella! is very good, I don't think I could say with confidence it's the best in the city. Also, I don't really much care for the room. I found it and the service to be sort of "stuffy" for some reason. Not bad, but something about it wasn't comfortable. It may be just me but I prefer the style (maybe ambience) of, say, Lilette, Herbsaint, Gautreau's, etc. I think we really need to go back there and give it one more shot.
But true confession, and this will really set a couple of you off. I really think Clancy's is overrated. Again, not bad. But I think it has its regulars that tend to elevate it a bit beyond where it should be in terms of rankings.

Solo and glass are going to put a bounty on your head.
I disagree but love all the other places you listed.

Actually, I prefer Gautreau's over Stella. I don't think Stella is overrated, but the food at Gautreau's makes more sense to my palate.

TA, tell me more about Gautreau's

Hey, to each their own, but I'm definitely a Stella! fan. Love me some Clancy's, too.

There is a reason i prefer to sit at a full service bar wherever I go. The bartender is never very far away. Guess who has a full service bar? Nola.
VOR,
My SO thinks Stella is way over rated as well, but then I thought Iris was (we debated the merits of Iris for a good hour).

We went to Com Pal 3 weeks ago and it was excellent. All of us got different entres and all were excellent. I thought their house wine was excellent. There wine list is over 100 pages. I'd go just for the turtle soup and pecan fish.

I liked Iris a lot when it was off of Carrollton (Jeanette?). The one time I went to it in the Quarter I was not as impressed.

No, I feel the same way in terms of what it costs. You're paying exceptionally high prices for excellent food, so it's a little bit skewed.
MiLa's venison is $34, for example, and Stella! charges $47 for the same thing. And I think the presentation was pretty much equally fadoodlely.
Chances are I'll hit MiLa before Stella! after having experienced both.

For the most part, it's superb. But it's not a graduation party kinda place either. It isn't all that stuffy - it's just usually dead in there at night - even on weekends.
