Used to pretty much find it any time i wanted it, but i feel like since right before Christmas, it has started getting harder to find. Literally to the point i havent seen it since before Christmas. Went to Calandros, Rouses, Oak Point, Bin Q, Total Wine, Walmart, Target, and havent found it. What gives

I picked up a bottle at Hokus Pokus when I was back there for Christmas... it's almost impossible to find here, have to get lucky when it hits a shelf.

People stand in line for Buffalo Trace in North Carolina. Dont even mention Blantons or Eagle Rare. I'm not joking....

Do you think they are moving Buffalo Trace to an allocated bourbon?

There’s a Taliban Citgo around here that keeps it on a back shelf that nobody can see. As far as I can tell I’m the only one that knows it’s there because their supply is always just like I left it. Plus if others knew about it it would be long gone. It’s very popular around here and pretty damn scarce. And they have it marked at $21/ bottle.

It's behind the counter where I am, and limited to 1 bottle per customer.

Pisses me off.

I was having no issues finding Buffalo Trace in the Collierville/Memphis area up until around Nov/Dec. Then I started having trouble finding handles of it, now sometimes I just don't even see it at all.

What’s made it so scarce? Just always assumed it was easy to find like Maker’s Mark or Jack Daniels

G whaddup baw

And yes it is...and baby saz is getting sketchy. With Sazerac having some ties to Louisiana it's been more plentiful here (both) but that's starting to change. I cant always get BT from the distributor and I was told that sazerac may become an issue. Total Wine and the ongoing bourbon craze is the issue IMO. Total wine sucks up A LOT of juice. Id be upset if I was a licka store.

It's allocated and hard to find up here already. I could make a profit muling it back each trip home, but not quite enough to make it worthwhile.

It astounds me what the bourbon world has turned in to. Nothing makes sense.

I attribute it to the Joe Rogan effect. He talks about how good Buffalo Trace is quite often.

I take it you weren't in the IPA game 5-8 years ago.

Yeah but liquors/beers/spirits used to be cyclical. Bourbons and IPAs are now very much mainstays in today’s drinking scene.

Has there been a gin resurgence in the last 15 years? Rum seems to never be talked about or marketed.

Tequila would be my guess as to second most trendy spirit behind bourbon. Flavored vodka was sorta a thing a few years ago but that seemed to have quieted down.

It’s really all about breweries and distilleries these days. And the most common beer is an IPA and most common liquor is bourbon.
