I’ll be in Houston next week. It’s beem about a year for me which is unusual.

My first stop will be Specs on Smith St. Anything in particular I should look out for. Fan of hoppy beers, stouts/porters, and sours.

If you mean houston specific breweries, 11 below brewing's negative space has been a fixture in my fridge lately. Milk stout. And copperhead breweries black venom imperial stout.

Eurika Heights MiniBoss IPA and Spindletap Houston Haze. Gives you a delicious dank IPA and delicious juice/Haze IPA.

I’ll second the above poster who mentioned Copperhead Black Venom, if they have some available. My local HEB hasn’t been able to get any Copperhead stuff in months.

Can't comment on their beer selection as I'm usually in the whiskey aisles, but as a heads up, Specs prices for cash or debit is 5% less than credit card (the credit is 5% higher, whichever way you look at it). If that helps you plan accordingly.

Go to total wine instead

Don’t forget the underrated items at specs:
-liga privada cigars
-cheeseburger and tater tots

Total Wine definitely has competitive prices.
Worth taking a look at.

If they’re going to distribute Mongoose, they just as soon have the beer truck make a stop by my house on its way to the Rosenberg HEB.

Competitive ?

Total Wine is better than Specs in both selection and pricing. I have never seen an item that Total Wine has priced lower at Specs.

I passed on a Balcones Special Release whiskey at Total Wine that was priced at $65. I went to Specs that same day (don’t judge me) and saw the same bottle priced close to $90.

So is one of the Total Wines more of a flagship store like Specs on Smith?

I’m headed to the Tomball area fwiw.

If one is, I’m not aware of it. A friend from Pearland turned me on to it based on his experience in the Pearland location.

The one in Humble closer to where I live is a former Academy sporting goods store, so you can imagine the square footage.
