I have discussed my love of the Duchesse De BOurgeone here before.

You guys sugggested a few. I have had 3.

Monks Cafe was regarded highly apparently. I cannot disagree. It was awesome I could take it or duchesse either way. Duchesse though you do seem to get some sublte variations from bottle to bottle.

Lips Of Faith was mentioned and a couple people warned me. They were correct. It was horrible. Tasted like a Porter with a few sweet tarts disolved in it.

Oud Brun. I be;lieve LEifmann's makes it. Was very good. Bartender said it was a "Quad that tastes like a sour." It was another success.

Anybody else got anything?

Is it part of the Lips of Faith series? The one that I had I did not like.

Well, I;m too drunk to help. But I do know one of the loacl bars had a sour beer week. I love Duchese...and some of the Krieks would compare but....ok....I'll have another Victory saison bar keep.

Which one did you have? I like the Kick better than the Clutch. They are definitely an acquired taste though.

The Specs on Bellaire/Holcombe has Duchess in the 4 packs.
Cuvee Renee is a nice Gueuze/Lambic if you like the funkier stuff.
When you make it to N.O., go to Steins on Magazine and buy as much Cantillon as you can afford.

...and if you're really into sours, you need to check out 'Night of the Funk' at the Belgian Beer Fest in Boston next September.

You probably had clutch. Lips of Faith is a series not a beer and tons of different stuff comes from that series. Clutch has been getting mixed ratings.

The beers you've had aren't extremely sour. We'll kick it up a notch towards the end of this list:

Petrus Oud Bruin and Lindeman's Gueuze Cuvee Renee, and New Belgium Transatlantique Kriek (a good fruited sour) would be good next steps.

On the more sour side are Petrus Aged Pale, New Belgium Lips of Faith: La Folie (one of my favorite sours), New Belgium Lips of Faith Le Terrior. Goodluck

I still have a Clutch waiting to be drank... but I've enjoyed previous Lips Of Faith beers, especially the La Folie.

RR has a really nice selection of sours: Temptation, Supplication, Beatification. I had all of these at there brew pub back in September and they were super tasty. Man, I wish they had a place that turned out that caliber of beer in Louisiana.

I actually picked it up on a whim at a small beer store in Salida, Colorado, having heard nothing about it before, and not really liking the couple sours I had tried before

best whim ever

I cannot wait to go back out there and hit Russian River and Lagunitas

are they able to keep Pliny on tap at their brew pub, or do they run out there too?

It's unquestionably the highest level brewery in the States based on my experience. If there's a better operation going out there, I can't wait to find it!

They probably keep the Elder on tap... obviously the Younger isn't going to be there. Unless you show up on the right day.

I had a few Russian River brews at Avenue Pub one time as part of a tasting, very good stuff but they all kind of ran together that night. It happens.

They had plenty of it when I was there. The Elder, that is. The Younger is a seasonal, in very, very limited supply when available, and is supposedly even better than the Elder. I'd have to taste for myself, because PtE is awesome! They also do another IPA, Blind Pig, that would probably crack my top 5 as well.

when we went to San Diego and visited Stone Brewing, they had Pliny in their beer garden. I thought it was a no brainer to have it, since we only had time for one round

Used to get Cantillon here in Shrevepatch years ago but have been unable to find it anymore. I had the 100% Lambic-Bio Gueuze, the Lou Pepe Gueuze and the Vigneronne. All were really good. They are what got me hooked on the sour & funkys.

I can get Lindeman's Cuvee Rene on occasion which is good as well.

Cheers!

I've never had the Bio but the Classic Gueuze (same thing just not organic) is in my top 5 beers list
