This is probably elementary, but I can fry oysters, shrimp, fish with no problem. For some reason I can't get the batter to stay on soft-shell crabs. What is the best wash and batter for them? Thanks.

Never used a wash. We always just tossed them in a cornmeal, cornstarch and AP flour mix seasoned of course

^This. Dust and fry. Batter on soft shell crabs hides the crab flavor in my opinion.
