The most successful BBQ I have seen in BR was out in the burbs, Abe's on George O'Neil. But the owners closed it for personal reasons when they were still packing them in. Several others have failed at the same location. The BBQ at Abe's was outstanding and they had blues bands on weekends that attracted a large following
i used to religiously hang out at abe's on friday nights, eat BBQ, drink beer and listen to music .. used to love that place .. too bad the owners dumped it after they split up .. actually the last guy in there -- "tasty ribs & things" had a really good BBQ thing going, but the poor guy's daughter was killed in a car wreck and his motivation was killed after that .. really good guy that could have really done something .. sad ..

as is Brothers
You sure about that, last time I drove by I thought it was "Ragusa's" now... unsure but I do not think I saw a Brothers sign.

same here. Abe's was very good. KC's, not so much. He was too involved in other extracurricular activities that were less profitable than his business he ran.

In Addis? No I'm not sure. I rarely get out that way.

i know kenny and judy really well .. good people both of them, but neither of them belonged in the restaurant business .. they had no clue what they were doing and to this day still are in denial as to why they failed ... he made some bank after katrina with the mortgage thing, so all is good for them ... never really knew the people that had it when it was "the hangar" (when it had the plane in the roof) .. that didn't last long at all ..

The Ragusa's is the old Brothers on Government street but I've never seen it open. Looks empty with a sign for "Best Burgers in BR" or something like that.

It was already Abe's when the two gals bought it wasn't it? OR was it something else? I remember it was a BBQ joint already when they bought it and they did a great job.
The building is for sale and I for one thing the location is great. Look at all the residents around there and all the commuters that just cut through. Plus it's really a good set up although it probably needs some updating. It only needs someone with good food and some capital to keep it open for awhile to develop. It doesn't have to be just BBQ either. They could sell kick arse hot dogs and I'd show up. Parking might be a problem but hey that means you have good stuff. Need a good breakfast joint in that area as well.

That's what I thought. Brothers didn't close they moved, I believe to Addis.

Brothers is now is Addis for sure. They are on Hwy 1 right past the new YMCA. Couyons is also on the westside too. Lots of good places on the westside betweeen Brothers, Bergerons & Couyons.
