The new microbrewery will be located at 124 S Buchanan Street, behind FireFly Digital, and Gallery 333.

Many of Sawbriar’s non-distributed brews will be seasonal, and experimental with some remaining year-round. You’ll also find many other Louisiana brews on tap, as well. When it comes to food, it’s a BYOF concept. Sawbriar will invite many of the local food trucks to serve, as well as allow for local delivery services to deliver. As for outside drinks, don’t bring them! Why would you?

The new breweries space will allow for a 300 person capacity, with a small music venue for local artists, dancing, and events. It sounds large, but the atmosphere has been designed as laissez-faire, and sociable. There will also be a courtyard in the back, which will be seen from within the brewery.

Downtown went through so many phases. Now it’s hipster territory

That's much preferable to ghost town territory or ghetto and white trash territory

I don't have any problem with hipsters. They start up good coffee shops, breweries, and restaurants.

All that sounds good... if they can brew some good beer.

This, I'm hoping Dat Dog being on one end and Rock N Bowl being on the other helps liven up both sides of Jefferson and keep some of the trash out. It's already noticeably better than it was just 2 years ago. The Wurst opening up is the main reason I keep going downtown.

Yeah, between Reve, Dat Dog, Wurst, Rock N Bowl, and now this, downtown has definitely been classed up a little bit. When I started college it was basically JSP and a bunch of white trash & hood bars.

Rock N Bowl,

In Lafayette? Where's this? Is it affiliated with the New Orleans one?

Yep, same people. It's going up across from where the Filling Station used to be, near the start of Jefferson downtown.

Agreed, I see no issue with cleaning up the area, it was pretty shitty for a couple years. We live in Freetown and are looking forward to when they bulldoze that block where Gallaghers is/was.

Had some of their homebrew stuff at a beer fest last year. Very good.

Don't forget the ACA. Saw Shovels and Rope there a few weeks ago, and it was fantastic.

The hipsters need to move into Fightville across Congress from downtown. Until that dump of a hood is cleaned up, downtown will suffer.

They're not going to distribute? They're gonna have to sell a lot of beer to make that work.

Let's hope this (and all of the other places mentioned) is a turning point for downtown. I was walking around down there for the last ArtWalk and it is astonishing how many vacant storefronts there are on that street.

Courtyard Brewery doesn't distribute and they do fine. It looks like this place is following a similar model

I love seeing investments like this go into the old downtowns, especially since it's a brewery.

Make fun of whatever group you want for how it's happening, I'm just glad it's happening.

2002-2005 was the best IMO.

Roothog’s, marleys, Jefferson st pub, club 410, antlers, night town.

Good times.
