Love Esquire, but more as a bar with food than a restaurant.

Biga on the Banks would be my top recommendation. Boudro's is also really good.

Also- not on the river, but only a few steps away in La Villita- Little Rhein steakhouse. Can't believe I forgot it, my rehearsal dinner was there!

The Mudball dessert is killer.

Edit- I take it back, it is on the river. God, my wife would kill me if she knew how many details I've forgotten about our rehearsal dinner spot!

Boudros. Tableside guac and prickly pear margaritas. The duck is legit too

Zinc
It's not on the ultra-touristy riverwalk so the food & service is decent. Their food actually comes from Boudro's kitchen. Cool hip place with a good happy hour.

La Gloria is a fun place. It is on the River, but some distance from the traditional Riverwalk area. You can get there on one of the river taxis. Down at the old Brewery.

Mexico City street food.

Paesanos, try their signature dish, garlic shrimp in white wine cream sauce on angel hair pasta, never disappoints...
