I really like the original and I will definitly be back there.. When someone stole my credit card/debit card info and overdrafted everything in my account and I didnt know about it yet.. When it didnt go through at the Original Georges they let me eat for free. They didnt know if it was their credit card machine or not. I didnt find out until later what happend. They were very nice about it. Whoever runs the southside location though needs to be shot.

ETA I dont mind the Jones Creek area one either.. Although Georges has gotten pretty high on their prices lately.

The only George's that was half decent is the one on George O'Neal. The other 2 I've been to were pretty gross. Never been a fan of that joint.

I'm more of a garden district guy so I've only eaten george's under the overpass lately.

Well, like Sammy's, George's Southside is really convenient... but it has been weeded out pretty quickly as far as places to go are concerned.

Living around the Jones Creek Area, I've been to George's a bunch of times and I always found it to be good. As Catman mentioned earlier, I do think they went up on their prices a little but they do give you a good amount of food.

Anyone like Jones Creek Cafe? I thought the place was OK, but after someone at this place stole my credit card info and charged $1500 worth of stuff on it, I haven't been back.

The only thing lacking are the hot waitresses circa 01-05. I don't know what happened there.
My wife and I have discussed this and she has a theory they have a female GM who must be in charge of hiring over there. No doubt the talent level has dropped off BIG TIME!!!!

I remember when it was just the front bar. I guess I'm getting old

I always see Smokie at that one. So the owner actually runs it on site a lot. That doesn't say much. He seems to sit behind the bar and talk to his friends and does not help out the bar tender in catering to customers.

Yeah, I remember when the back opened, and it seemed like there was just so much more space...

I'm old, too!

On that note, we took our kids there for the first time since moving away, drove in on Staring, parked, and walked in the old front door, and didn't know about that huge addition to the side. We were just going out to the back by habit, and I was like, "what's all THAT"??? When we passed the entry to the addition. I couldn't believe it was the same place.

I remember when Sammy's wasn't Sammy's. It was the Warthog Saloon.

Try Sammy's in Zachary. Ive been a Sammys patron for about 20 years. Friendly people, and the managers go out of their way to help you. I just left there. Usually hang out at the bar. Try the specials. Ive only had to send one plate back cause it was over salted but they bent over backwards to make sure I was satisfied. Lunch specials are really good especialy the chicken fried steak. Hope the dont strech themselves to thin with the new Central location.

Went there last saturday for boiled crawfish and really enjoyed them... probably best I've had in baton rouge, although I am not a big fan of getting crawfish from a restaurant .

"Frequenter of Sammy's and I generally regard it as the best all around restaurant in BR."

LOL

Anyway the crawfish are good and the brunch is good. When I used to live 2 minutes away from it I would sometimes get a hamburger steak or grilled shrimp po boy to go, but now that I live 15 minutes away I haven't been in 2 years
