You know you have made that comment here many times. IMO it's not cool to be bashing a small local mom and pop operation that sources local products because you had a piece of fatty brisket from their pop up once.
Slight aside/hijack: while I prefer to support non-chains and locally owned small businesses, I am not blindly cheerleading for anyone's business simply because it's small & local. I'd rather hear what people experience, warts and all. I don't want boosterism from a food board; I want unvarnished opinions...I'll sort through their veracity/relevance using my own brain. Plenty of local, small restaurants suck. I don't bother talking about those. Would rather focus on the good/tasty ones.

Holy shite.
I "like" everything they post on Instagram and have been saying I wanted to try the place out.
Call me offended, but shite like this makes me never want to go to places that do it.
I'll never go now. Such a shame someone can turn people off of their restaurant who truly wanted to visit by acting like an a-hole and personally insulting human beings they've never met.

i wonder if he knows this board is mostly NOLA posters
Obviously not and he must be concerned about this board or he wouldn't have posted here. If you think it's the worst, then why come here at all? And, if we're a bunch of BR posters bashing NO food, what's the concern? These restaurant owners are somewhat bizarre in their reasonings. It's been very interesting.
I agree with them that Yelp etc... doesn't appear to be run as they claim. I don't discount that. I can recall when R&O's was on that stupid show and people went on both Yelp and Urbanspoon and bashed the hell out of it. A day or so later, all of those posts had been removed.
I trust the folks here on reviews and info on restaurants and I like the detailed reviews. I write some long ones myself. It doesn't take away from meal at all. I notice those things routinely, particularly if I'm somewhere for the first time because I'm going to decide whether I'm going to return. There are so many choices in New Orleans and so many good places to try.

Yep. There are quite a few extremely small "work people" lunch spots in BR that are 90% Sysco heated food.

Exactly. I think a point that really gets tossed aside is that semi-intelligent adults can differentiate between the wide array of things that are posted online; from morons to blowhards to attention whores to teenager to internet trolls to legitimate complaints to over-praise. The problem with the Twitter-ization of social media and society at large is things instantly become a battle of 1 vs 2, black vs white, left vs right, TD vs business owner..

I wonder if the sammich owner is friends with the smokehouse guy and recruited him to join his fight. Dumb decsion to get involved.
Like i said, a few weeks ago after Smokehouse guy was bashed on here, he really toned down his "bashing" posts. I think he already read this board

I went to desktop and eventually found it.
With the outrage from some posters here I am surprised no one has commented.
I guess the keeping anonymity angle has some truth.

I agree totally. But to bash a place multiple times you've never step foot in is BS
Posted on 3/19/15 at 2:11 pm to Lester Earl
Can't believe this is 17 pages. I know nothing about running a restaurant, but I'd guess that fighting the internet is a tough road to hoe.
The place looks solid. It's on my list.

I don't even have a FB account and can see it after simply googling and looking through the page as a non-signed in person. Like ft I'm not very FB smart though not sure why it's not showing up for some.

Wise if you're talking about me here you really need to stop trying to redefine the word "bashing."

No. I don't like it either. It was posted yesterday afternoon and he has a number of posts after and today, so you have to scroll down a good bit.

Eh.
There's enough good food in New Orleans to not feel like I'm missing out if I skip a BBQ joint with an a-hole owner
Look, I respect how defensive you are of restaurants in these types of threads. It is like me when people bash service and the tipping system. Believe me, I get it.
I can put aside political opinions and things, but I cannot turn a blind eye to saying insulting things about other human beings who are potentially people who will pay your bills. I have been following NOLA Smokehouse for a while and wanted to get around to trying it sometime if I was in the city and craving BBQ. But personal insults at your own customers or prospective customers are where I draw the line.
No food is worth that for me personally. Especially a BBQ shack.
