First, I agree Jackson has good steakhouses. No doubt.

Second, your statement is impossible since Ruth's sources their meat of their own ranch. The ranch does not sell to anyone else.

I am glad to see some people here agree with me that Ruth's Chris is not the best steak in the entire country...

Far from it....Mr. John's is much better in NOLA alone.

Its a great steak, but my money goes to Mr. Johns at that pricepoint...which is rare bc I am not a huge fan of steakhouses...I prefer the Herbsaints, Gautreau's, GW Fins, etc.

OK TA maybe you can tell me why Mr. John's steak(let's say a ribeye) is better than Ruth's. I would really like to hear a reason other than personal taste. Is the sear better? is the meat more tender? Is the flavor bolder?

Tim, no offense, but isn't this a little ridiculous? Why, other than personal taste, do people like anything? If one thing tastes better to me than another thing, why do I have to come up with reasons other than "it tastes better"?

I love Ruth's ribeye as much as the next guy, but TA might have found a steak that he likes better, as that is his right.

I know doc, but honestly I just don't know any other way to ask...that's why I use the examples( Is the sear better? is the meat more tender? Is the flavor bolder?)...TA is articulate enough to perhaps give me a reason...not that I just like it better is not a reason but if someone says....x's steak is better than Ruths then tell me why...if someone says....I like x's steak better than ruths...that's personal taste and no explanation needed.

I think you are splitting hairs here, but that's JMO.

Either way, I am with you that Ruth's steak is solid, and always is. I have had a few steaks that on a given night are comparable (better marbling, hotter when served, seasoned more evenly, etc), but on average, Ruth's does it better more consistently.

I know...I'm like a dog with a bone but this has been discussed may times and I have often heard...so and so's steak is better than Ruth Chris'...I would just like, for once, someone to tell me how the steak is better than Ruths'....I will drop this for now.

I agree Tim, and not just steak, opinions and facts, (or at least legitimate reasons), are two different things.

i have no idea, neither would surprise me.

Well, a single ranch might be a little bit of a surprise. Aren't there over 100 locations?

Bones in atl. Smith and wollenskys in NYC. Just a couple of the top of my head that are better than RC, however, RC serves a very very fine steak.
