It's better than Johnny's. Johnny's pizza is extremely overrated.

I lived in West Monroe for 7 years. I get it. It's a staple in that part of the country but it's not that good imo. It's on par with Pizza Hut. I preferred Fox's pizza when I lived there.

The Ruston brewery had solid pizza. I ate there once on a date.

Speaking of Farmerville, I'll go to Rhett's Tails and Shells. frick Johnny's.

Griff's Triple painted a pretty puke picture when we had a kid eat one of those meals four hours before a PT test.

You laugh but I'm not lying. Johnny's isn't any better than Pizza Hut. It is better than Dominoes, Papa John's, Little Ceaser and frozen pizzas.

I don't eat pizza often because it's not my thing but Johnny's can't hold a candle to Pizza Shack in Opelousas and that's a fact.

I don't eat Johnny's pizza at all. I'll eat McDonald's before I eat Johnny's. If I want pizza I that area, I'm finding another place to go.

No it’s not

And you said you liked foxes. They’re almost exactly the same except the way the slices are cut

As a transplant from Lake Charles now living in Ruston:

If you’re from south LA, take a pass on Ponch. It sucks.

Utility brewing for pizza and beer. Never had a bad pizza here.
Bad Wolf BBQ at the food truck park is best in town.
Sundown is great for turkey melt/bar food.
Lula Perl is the best lunch spot in town. Owner was a chef in New Orleans, dude can flat out cook.
White Lightnin’ or Beau Vines Steakhouse for dinner.

Absolutely is.

No. Fox's taste better. I don't like the taste of Johnny's pizza dough. Their bread is just different.

Pizza Shack is excellent pizza.

In your opinion. Taste is subjective, and not everyone likes a yeasty beer crust. IMHO Pizza Shack isn't that good. It's a bland crust and sauce with decent texture where the toppings do all of the work. Some people like that and want the toppings to be the star, which is fine, not my palette but it is theirs.

I prefer to judge a pizza based on their cheese pizza. Is the crust good, is the sauce good, is the cheese good. Johnny's checks all of those IMHO. Solid yeasty crust with good texture. Sweet and salty sauce that is balanced and not overly sweet or salty. Cheese is mild and fatty and not overly pungent.

Just my opinion, and I understand certain places have cult followings, so although Johnny's isn't your thing, nor is Pizza Shack, PizzaVille, Deano's, JJ's, or Pizza Mia mine (these all feel like the same airy bland crust, bland sauce, bland cheese, toppings have to do all the work pizza) I know their quality far outweighs the crappy national chains.

Lol. I never eat cheese pizza. It's either meat or supreme. Cheers.

I forgot to add Lula Perl, but I agree on it being a great lunch or breakfast spot. Ruston is criminally underrepresented on good options for supper though. I hope over the next few years some of the restaurant owners in Monroe or Shreveport start looking here. There’s a Delta Biscuit Company coming, and they just opened a bakery called Lowders out of Shreveport.

You should. Similar to vanilla ice cream. If a business can’t make good vanilla ice cream I don’t trust their other flavors.

Wong’s Chinese was pretty good back in the early ‘90s, no idea if it’s still there. My favorite “sit down” lunch spot was Sarah’s Kitchen, but I think she’s passed on several years ago…

Both long gone. I’d love to have them back though. RAW is really good sushi. Unfortunately, I think they mainly only do carry out. They have a few tables, but it may be hard to get reservations. Most just pick up.
