It's a great place. Excellent service. The menu is strange to some but is well thought out.

Charcuterie board.
Watermelon Salad
Ménage a foie
Szechuan Beef Tendon

Among other things. You'll have fun.

Any hate it gets on here is unwarranted. Definitely a top 3 new place of 2012.

I do not get the love for that dish. It's there most popular entree by far and it's my least favorite thing there. I think it's really boring. And I love scallops.

The compressed watermelon salad is great, and I love the Yorkie dessert w/ the cocoa puffs.

What is your preferred preparation of scallops? Not hating, just curious.

Seared. But I had scallops at Coquette last night and they weren't, and like them fine. The scallop dish at ROOT just seems boring compared to the other options.

The scallops are huge though.

I went the other night and got the ribeye with the heart meat and cherry bordelaise on it. I liked it but definitely regret not ordering the scallops (or something else)

I went there a couple weeks ago it's really good. I really liked the Apple and Radish Salad and also the lebanese tea brined gulf fish.

Wasn't a big fan of their scallops. Just because they blow smoke in the box doesn't make the it taste any better. More of a novelty thing. Everything else we had was great.
