Have you had one from the Pastime Lounge (under the I-10 bridge)? I heard it's pretty good. Couldn't tell you myself, as I don't much like RB poboys.

I just needed to walk away. But, these regular, recurring "I can't get a good poboy" threads get tiresome...

The best one that was available many years ago was served at The Library on Chimes street.

You're right, but that goes a long way in explaining why a good roast beef sandwich is hard to come by in BR. That and silly excuses for real French bread

Dont know if its been mentioned yet but New Orleans Poboys & Gyros on Coursey has dome really good NO quality roast beef poboys. Its across from portico's. They have french bread brought in from New Orleans and while it may not mean much, its the only place my parents will get a roast beef poboy from(they are originally from NO and lived there about 35yrs or so) because they say it actually resembles the way a poboy is supposed to be made. (Make sure to ask for extra gravy though if you want it dripping down your arm)
Mr Roy is also one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and remembers the names of the majority of his customers. If you go during lunch make sure you order ahead of time because the place gets packed.

Unless they've changed it's just deli roast beef and canned gravy. The only thing close is the bread.

That's what it was when I had it.

Here is the only solution....go to New Orleans Poboys and get a loaf of 12" french bread.

Then drive down the road and get some roast beef from Dempsey's.

Bam...authentic NOLA roast beef poboys.

I went to NO poboys last week

They took the wall down between them and the old check cashing place next door

They now have a lot more tables, and they are all new tables and chairs

It looks a lot better in there.

They make a good Greek chicken salad, I get it almost every time.

I've been in BR for about 6 years and have not had a good roast beef po-boy ever here.

I agree with this. There are a handful of good seafood po'boys in town (especially from Demspey's), but no good classic New Orleans roast beef with dubris. The best I've had that even used roast beef was the French Dip from South of Philly (which is the daily special on tuesdays, fyi)

I forgot about that place! I used to go there a lot when I was in High School and Rocket's Hideout was across the street. I never got the roast beef, but their cheese steak and seafood po'boys were legit.
