Wayfare out, Acropolis in. Sucks because I really enjoyed Wayfare, though I did notice it was routinely empty lately.

That place always reminded me of a decent trendy restaurant you could find in any medium-sized city. Nothing at all special about it.

Felt like it was similar to High Hat in that it was a consistently good neighborhood restaurant/bar, but for whatever reason High Hat is always crowded. Meanwhile Wayfare was rarely bustling. I assume that’s due to High Hat having a more approachable menu. Sucks to see Wayfare leave, but I’m not mad about having good/decent Greek food nearby either.

ETA: Wayfare closing really makes me question how places like Freret Beer Room stay open.

Every place on Freret comes down to who is the landlord, what is the rent, and what are the lease terms. Granted this is true for pretty much any establishment, but especially on Freret.

Wayfare has had underwhelming crowds for years now

Well, Freret Beer Room did shut down earlier this year and do a 'rebranding'

I know, I saw they reopened a few weeks ago. Took a look at the re-worked menu and it’s not near enticing enough to get me in the door. Their beer menu also didn’t seem very intriguing. Mostly the same local stuff you can get at most restaurants in the city.

I'd only eaten there twice but thought it was damn good. I'd eaten once at Salu and once at Capdeville too and thought they were both very good. Not sure what went wrong at all these places for them to close. They were all pretty busy when I went. Guess too much stiff competition closeby.

Is this actual Greek food or Middle Eastern?

Same. Been in there 4-5 times. The food (old menu) was way better than the beer list. Plus, anything desirable on the beer list is usually out.

Just looked at their new menu. Ugh. The burger they used to have was on point.

Acropolis is legit, for those who have never eaten there.
