My husband and I will be in BTR in April. I keep up on here, but looking for recs from locals, without having to sift through posts. I will also have coworkers with me who have never experienced Louisiana cuisine. Chimes, Mason's, Mansur's, LA Lagniappe? Other non-LA style recs?

I go back to when they opened on Sherwood, in a former drive-through place. Their Dad owned Carlos' at Airline and Florida, by the bowling ally. Great rec!

Was friends with the Randi and her husband who owned Nino's years ago, great establishment.

Thank you for the reminders!

I suppose I won't get the pleasure of introducing anyone to Fleur de Lis pizza...BUT there is always Pastime!

Do you aspire to rub elbows with the movers and shakers in this town?

Then there's only 1 choice.

I don't think I have enough clout.

Thank you, all!

Also the case with Louisiana Lagnaippe.

Don’t overlook French Market Bistro, same owners as Mansur’s, many shared dishes, little brighter, more casual vibe. Both are a big yes.

Also a fan of Elsie’s, and if downtown for a weekend, Cecilia’s is quite good. Surprised no one has mentioned Chum Yow Phat. Unique twist on crawfish, and fun vibe.

Pastime will eventually succumb. Nearly anything is better.

The place on Sherwood was a Delmont Pastries. Yes Jim’s Dad is Carlos . Jims uncle owned El Rio Grande, also in the Airline Hwy.
