1. I just push a few buttons.
2. The payment is linked so I don't have to read a card number while driving.
3. I walk in and pick it up, I don't have to wait or pay.
This is worth the extra money to me.
What places make you pay over the phone for a takeout order? Do you want to just start giving me money to order your food for you?

If you don't pay over the phone you wait in line and pay at pick up. I don't, I just pick up. Most places have an area for these orders and my bag is waiting for me.

Yea, but Starbucks is through their own app.
Yep, you are already seeing more national chains going this route. Eventually, they will develop exclusive delivery rights with companies like Uber eats, WAITR, Grubhub etc which should lower the cost of doing business with these delivery companies. Theoretically it should end up being cheaper for both the consumer and the restaurant

Sonic does it and remembers your order history.

Yes I did, and I change my prices according to their fee. When it rises so do my prices.

WAITR is by far the worst of these services, it's only successful because it was one of the first to market. Uber eats, Grubhub, and Postmates are all far superior in their price structure to WAITR
From what I’ve read on other forums, restaurants DESPISE DoorDash and similar because they don’t ask the restaurant if they want to participate. They just advertise that they’ll go anywhere. They’ll even post outdated menus for users since they don’t technically partner with the restaurant. Then they get some random foreign person in India to call in the order and half the time they’re ordering stuff that doesn’t exist..
Waitr might cost more but they’re in an actual agreed upon partnership with the businesses, and they’re a company with local roots.

I noticed this first when I was ordering city pork one night. Quit using Waitr altogether and just order directly from the restaurant now. It was more convenient to pay through the app but not worth the extra cost on top of the fee and tip I was already paying.

I order Burgersmith, Ichiban (Gonzales), and Geisha (P-Ville) and the Waitr prices are a little higher.

Waitr and delivery app.services (excluding Doordash) charge the merchant as much as 30% to use their service. That is in addition to other charges at the time of sign up. Most restaurants operate on average somewhere near 30% margins. So the benefit to the merchant is really only on high margin items like beverages and specials that are usually not ordered thru the apps.
I get it, when I see expensive prices on anything. I don't blame the merchant. I accept that I just can't afford it.

This extends much further than people realize, way beyond F&B. Someone has to pay for those benefits of the rewards cards.

Could also be restaurant’s way of recouping lost revenue had you dined in. I understand the up-charge doesn’t apply to phone in orders, but Waitr will be preferred over dining in for many and I feel like customers dining in are naturally apt to spend more on a whim. It might be that couple cocktails or the good looking dessert at the next table you wouldn’t have planned for via Waitr. Just my $2
.

Waitr gives you 2 options when you sign up with them 1) $1500 up front and 15% of every order. The other is 25% of every order. They specifically suggest to you that you raise your prices in order to make up for their fees.
