Joe doesn’t need a trendy place to have his picture on Facebook. Joe looked at the menu online but nothing looked to be outstanding which he HAD to have to eat. Joe KNOWS the mom and pop has excellent food and most of the time above par service. Again, why would joe risk losing money on a no-show reservation? Also again, they chose a business model I don’t care for. To each their own.

Another example of reveling in your parochial views. The trendy place just may very well have excellent food and service, but you disdain it and mock it based on your narrow-minded assumptions.

In addition to your parochial views, you also seem to have a problem understanding that you wouldn't be at risk of losing money on a no-show reservation. But alas, you've probably just ignored the various posts in this thread that actually describe the policies, because you've just already made up your mind.

Insane the amount of money they put into that building for 75 seats, I hope it works out for them.
Same, I think it will. The space is pretty awesome, and not like any other restaurant in Lafayette.

I’m not assuming anything. Just the opposite. I’m fully aware of their chosen business model. I don’t like it. it’s that simple. That business model cost them $180 last night for two customers. Last time I checked, I’m pretty sure I can spend my money where I chose to

I have no problem understanding the business model. Yes, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t be patronizing the business if the reservation is in my name. But, the reason is: Life happens. If an emergency arises that needs my attention, the last thing on my mind is canceling a dinner reservation. Matter of a fact, I did get a phone call on the way to dinner concerning an elderly family member. Luckily I didn’t have to attend to the situation. BUT if I had to, I would have. Honestly, it’s just not worth the hassle.

It's not worth the hassle to use good manners and make a 15 second phone call to the restaurant to let them know you can't make your reservation so they aren't f*cked?

That's just poor home training.

Right. Whether the reservation was free or you had to put a cc on file. Not calling to cancel is just poor taste and tells us more about you.

The policy doesn’t exist because of people like me. I guess you people are really butthurt because people like me chose not to patronize this business because of their policy. Like I said. To each their own

So I’m dumb AND trashy for not agreeing with a business model. Typical democrat. I’ll let you know when your opinion matters to me.

And yes, they potentially lose an income opportunity every time they open their doors for business because of their policy

It's a wonder you're able to go out at all. Or go to your job.

What happens when you're out to dinner and an emergency arises? Since calling to cancel a reservation takes too much time, I can't imagine that you have time to ask for the bill and pay it. Paying the bill is probably a bad restaurant policy too.

You should look into assisted care.

Understood.

But they aren’t paying me to wait 30 minutes either.
