Hopefully all those cool places that are opened on Sunday are on par with River&Rail and Portico.

Nah man...I'd say a lot better! But hey that's what happens when you have a variety of places to choose from for dinner on the WEEKEND! Variety is nice...going to these restaurants after coming back from something that was actually going on in town is even nicer!

I'm glad you've found paradise in Shreveport Cork. Thanks for this riveting discussion

no problem man! I enjoyed it too even though I felt like the entire Robertson family was ganging up on me in here!! Just remember not to inhale too deep...that paper mill stench will do bad things to you.

Well, I'm proud of you, junior, but, you don't seem to have the ability to spell Ouachita, you've missed it at least twice, or, thrice.

Are you sure you've ever even been to Monroe, you seem very vague about the subject? Is Pawwwl Allen your brother, if so, you might be one of my Johnnys parking lot offsprings?

Yes a matter of fact I have... For three long boring years. I saw all that Monroe has to offer. I've strolled pecanland mall and looked at the world's greatest retail camo selection, I've marveled at all 2 floats in your Mardi gras parade, I've had a claustrophobia induced panic attack at the beloved Enoch's, I've enjoyed many an NFL Sunday at my own home because nowhere is open... and even if it was you probably can't get a drink or a beer till 12 cause that would be madness, I've seen the wonderful river market with all the homemade monogrammed t shirts someone could possibly want, and I've been to all of the downtown festivals featuring such headline acts as that guy who failed out of the ULM music Dept in 2 years playing acoustic covers AND that 6th grade dance team. Yes indeed... I have been to Monroe... What a town!

I think you're cooked and done. Time to bow out of this thread.

Disclaimer: I do not live in or around Monroe. You're just embarrassing yourself. I'm helping you. :)

Ya know your right... Not gonna win in a back and forth about a town against a bunch of people from that town...even though I really do think I hit all the highlights of things to do. Clearly I missed a few restaurants so I don't know where y'all kept em hidden but guess I misspoke on that front.

ANYWAY! to the guy that started this thread. Hope you find a good dinner Sunday. Portico sure got shot on but it's good. Won't blow you away food wise but pretty nice atmosphere, good bar and solid food. Also don't thomas is legit!

It's all good Scott.

I love sitting back in reading all the Monroe threads.

I like to know the view from both locals and Outsiders.

Not at Cotton. On the new Food Network "Next Star" show starting in June.
Runs a catering business and I did hear that a new restaurant venture could be in the works soon.

Born and raised in Ouachita Parish. Live in Livingston Parish. I am back and forth all the time, for family.

I have accounts/customers all over the state, so I interact with people from every corner of La.

Nice man... Seems interesting. Sorry if my outsiders perspective was harsh, but as mentioned in my previous posts on this thread that place just wasn't for me personally. I was kinda stuck there though and I guess it left me salty haha

Monroe is blueblooded as hell. I'm from there so I'm able to say it. Miss the Mohawk and Larry's more than anything else. The Mohawk is more nostalgic than good but certianly where you should go eat. Eat in the bar not the dinning room. ( there are booths)
