Redoing our outdoor area and need a grill recommendation

I'm hooking up to the natural gas line so it will have to be compatible there. The local grill place in town has mostly Webers.
Budget is less than $1,000. Family of 4 so don't need a giant grill; not a small one either though.

Built-in? Freestanding? Whats wrong with Weber? It's one of the best out there. If you get something like ndtiger suggested, get the Oklahoma Joe's version, much better build quality for around the same price.

Whats wrong with Weber?
I would like to get a smoker too by not really a fan of the all in one model. I have a Kamado style chargriller now so I might get another one of those one day (kamado joe etc) but for now I need the gas grill.

I have a weber spirit, natural gas, 2 burner. Works fine for us, family of 5. Have never run out of room on it.

Does Weber make a conversion kit for natural gas?
FYI this is something you can make yourself but if you frick it up and make your house go kaaaaboom, homeowners wont cover you. Id buy one rated for natural gas.

At $1k you could get most of the Weber Genesis line in NG Here's one for $849 but there are definitely cheaper options. Looks like you could get an entry-level Napoleon, which I have heard good things about as well.
If you want to go lightly used or a demo unit, you might be able to get a professional-quality unit like a DCS, Weber Summit, etc. I bought a used DCS gas grill at an auction for a couple hundred bucks (propane, not natural gas and it was in rough shape at the time) and it's pretty fantastic.
But if you just want something that will last a long time and you can just go to the store and pickup or order from Amazon w/no issues, I'd go Weber Genesis.

In your price range, a Weber Genesis is probably a safe bet. Will last forever and cooks great.
One thing you don't want to take for granted is whether or not replacement parts will be available for your grill in 5 or 6 years. If you buy one of those Nexgrills that seem to have all the bells and whistles for not a lot of money, you have to remember that when the burners go bad in 3-4 years, you will have to find replacement parts. You know Weber will still be around, and they will send you the replacement parts - free of charge, if they are still under warranty.

Ditch the gas and get a BGE, Primo or KJ. Your food will taste way better plus you have the versatility to smoke.

I will vouch for saber grill. Been having their 670 unit for a few years now and it works great.

I had a natural gas Weber Spirit (3-burner) for many years and loved it.
Recently upgraded to Weber Genesis (NG), which is a bit nicer. It's pretty much the go-to Weber model. The Summit is the top of the line but $$$.
Here's the rub: Weber has updated its Genesis line of gas grills for 2017. The new Genesis II lid is shorter, warranty shorter, and price is taller. They offer everything from 2 to 6 burners, fuzzing the lines between Genesis, the cheaper Spirit, and the top dog Summit.
I ran out to Lowes and got a helluva deal on an "old" natural gas model. They marked it down a couple hundred to move them out. I saw a couple more still at my local Lowes last week. You may want to hit Lowes and Home Depot and see what's out there before it's too late. NG models can be hard to find.
Or you may prefer the new models. They are in stores now.

You can get a Weber charcoal kettle too if you want to have that option. You can use it to grill or for low and slow smokes. The Original is $149, but I like the Master-Touch ($200). Will last forever and doesn't take up much space.
