I'm in the market for a double jet burner. I have a couple bayou classic single jet burners that I've been pretty pleased with, but have had some minor issues. Nevertheless, they are not pricey so I consider those a value buy.

So, is bayou classic pretty much the go-to for most people? Is there a big difference between stainless steel and not? I also see thicker gauged models like this one LINK, which makes it seem safer.

I don't like the steel braided gas line that comes with the bayou classics. Had one on me fail in the past and they just aren't very durable.

TY in advance.

I've got this one.

Bayou Classic SP2 Double Jet Cooker with Hose Guard LINK

I didn't pay that much for it though.

I have sold the double jet from Bayou Classic for years and have never had anything negative said about it FWIW.
Check their options on the regulators vs. PSI.

Have never tried the flip/and dump types ???

The regulator is more important than the orifice, no Cajuns had ‘double jet’ burners. shite sounds like a jet taking off with a real deal regulator. Find a burner, and not one from Lowes.

bayou classic SS40... the only choice IMO. i think you'll be a lot happier with the heavy model. the stainless is what we've converted all of ours to. the hose may not be the best per-say, but honestly its not too bad.

listen to this man. Any burner will suffice if you attach a 30 psi regulator to it. I have this one on a single jet and it will get my water boiling in a 110qt pot within 8-10 minutes.

Is it safe to hook up 30 psi regulator to something like a bayou classic sp1?

yes. It's adjustable so no big deal. You might want to swing the flame shield out of the way though.

Thanks. I will give the regulator a shot first then. It's probably all I need. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Alright folks. I did a test to see how much difference the new regulator makes. I filled up my pot with 50qt water and timed how long it would take to bring it to a boil with each regulator. Results:

10 psi - 40 minutes
30 psi - 20 minutes

I noticed about 10 minutes in with the 30 psi regulator that the gauge was showing the psi at 20 (it started off at 30) and that the bottom of the tank was icing up. I sprayed the tank with a water hose for a little while and got the psi back up close to 30. So I imagine if I can keep the tank from freezing (or get a bigger one), then I could probably get the boil time down to 15 min.

Anyone recommend some sort of bucket or apparatus to put the tank in and fill with shallow water to keep it from freezing?

Much thanks to everyone who recommended a better regulator. Saved me a good chunk of change!

That's about right.

I've got a 30 psi on a double jet and it's 17 minutes until the water boils.

I have the burner from above post and run mine at about 25-30 psi on my 0-60 regulator.

I never could keep the 20 pound tank from not freezing when it got low.

I ended up getting the 40 pound (9.4 gallon) and haven't had an issue since.
