FRI-SUN
left fri afternoon two hours to mobile
stayed downtown at Malaga inn, love this place. Old boarding house type hotel with huge rooms and ours had a balcony out on to church street

drinks at Callaghan’s and then dinner at hummingbird way. Service and food were outstanding. We had marinated crab claws, homemade biscuits, wedge salad, pumpkin and mushroom risotto and a whole fried snapper with curry. That night one of our favorite bands played two sets in the courtyard of the hotel.

Saturday coffee and breakfast tacos at nova. We then rented those small scooters and went day drinking…ice house bar, oyster city brewery and the dog park brewpub across the street. Mid afternoon we ate and drank at squidink downtown. Great place and fantastic cocktails. We had sautéed squid with garlic, tuna poke with lentils and sweet potato and chicken banh mi bao. All great. Got a little too buzzed for the scooters so we grabbed a golf cart ride back to the hotel.

Halloween party concert at the hotel, same band. Got a real good time.

Sunday after coffee we grabbed pastries at dropout bakery (excellent) and hit the road. We stopped at the shed for lunch which was fun and enjoyable and then TBT in BSL for drinks and a little of the saints game.

Weather was great which helps but Mobile is a lot of fun. Downtown is lovely and safe and well kept and everyone we met was super friendly. Perfect weekend getaway

Today is nice and quiet in BSL. Yesterday was a shite show.

I can’t wait for the train to start up to Mobile.

Malaga inn,

I’ve stayed here several times, great place. I especially like the rooms in the historic part of the hotel. I’ve stayed in those upstairs rooms with access to the balcony and it’s always a great place to sit and enjoy a drink.

I love downtown mobile especially around Christmas
My wife’s tennis usually brings us there the first part of December
The Haberdasher has a great Christmas vibe

Noja and Noble South are always on the schedule for dinner. I’ll have to check out hummingbird way

I have friends who live in Mobile. They eat at Hummingbird nearly once a week. They love the place.
