I hadn’t been there in years, we grabbed a beer at ms mae’s and waited for it to open at 530.
dozen raw, dozen grilled, fried crab claws and homemade fries.
oysters were plump and salty and the grilled dozen was surprisingly good. also these might be the best fries in the city

fifty bucks in and out, really enjoyed it.
just a reminder about a true gem of the city, it deserves more mention and is a nearly perfect slice of what makes New Orleans great

Never been unhappy with them. Except mildly when they first rolled out the grilled oysters. They were pretty meh. But, they are a superb establishment.

I was dubious but they really were excellent. Evidently they’ve dialed in the recipe.
Everything cooked/shucked/fried to order

Glad they are chargrilling a good product now. Five years ago, they were a bit of a letdown. Great joint.

Past few times I have been the raw oysters have been terrible.

I always enjoy the fried soft shell crab loaf though.

We went there the day after Thanksgiving. We split a dozen raw, fried crab claws, an oyster loaf, a shrimp loaf and an order of fries. Excellent as always
