When you order a Ravioli entree in a restaurant you typically get anywhere from 4 to 8 pieces. What determines how many? Ingredients? Restaurant preferences?

I'd expect a full entree serving around 10-12oz in a restaurant like Gino's. The restaurant's overhead cost and the cooking style determines how much or how many pieces you get. Above example I would expect around 6 raviolis.

I have no idea what Gino's does cause I always order the lasagna with the green peas. I'd put money on 7 cheese raviolis per serving though.

Agreed. An old school red sauce joint where most people eat a big mountain of pasta as the entree is going to give you a lot.

A new style place with raviolis like this tend to only give you like 4 pieces.

quote:

RAVIOLI DI GRANCHIO

handmade half-moon shaped ravioli filled with crab meat, in a lobster meat sauce topped with caviar

quote:

RAVIOLI AL TARTUFO

square shaped ravioli filled with ricotta, porcini and black truffle in white truffle cream sauce

A lot of newer style Italian places have pastas listed in their own section of the menu before the entree/large plate section, and they're always pretty small.

Depends on the size of each piece. You get more smaller ones and fewer larger ones as a general rule. Pasta restaurants that make their own pasta in house usually use a machine. Some make larger pieces than others.

Ravioli is one of my favorite style foods but I have legit never once ordered them in my life at a restaurant due to portions. No matter the size of raviolis, I feel like I can eat 20+ a minimum before feeling full and you’re lucky if you ever get more than 10
