I've never eaten at the place, but we're going with another couple this coming Saturday.

Opinions?

Recommendations?

Charcouterie plate is fabulous. I was underwhelmed by everything else, but the portions are mighty generous.

It's a very casual place. I went on a Saturday night, dressed like it was my big night out. I felt overdressed -- and I don't mean I was wearing a suit or even jacket.

I went right after it opened (its two blocks from my house) and thought it was pretty good, but could use some work. The charcuterie plate was very good as were the cracklins. I had the lamb neck which was served over blackeyed peas - a little to earthy all the way around. People I was with had the drum and the pork chop and were pleased. I need to go back and try it again, I've heard its gotten better since opening.

And yes, very casual. That was actually the concept from what I understand.

I went a few weeks ago and some things were very good (beet pickles, deviled eggs, lamb nec) and others were not (meatballs, other pickles, rillions). My main issue with it is that it is very heavy, hearty, lusty cooking. And well, it is hot outside and I dont want to eat that type of food right now.

But in a few months I will probably be craving that lamb neck.

Unimpressive. Had the Boudin(not good), Meatballs (the sauce has either mango or passion fruit puree, very off-putting), and the pork chop (pork was good but the dirty rice was soupy and lacked a big flavor punch). I will not go back.
