Thanks for a real answer.
Watched the bartenders at Jack Sabin’s and The Village make it for me from the age of 8 to about 14. Add a couple of cherry’s as a garnish. It was my go too.
The bourbon addition came not too long after that.

Or make a grownup’s cherry coke: cola plus a few shakes of Fee Bros cherry bitters. Less sugary, more cherry flavor.
