Question For Red Wine Drinkers

I was recently given access to pick through a former liquor store's unsold wine stock for free and I chose out a bottle of Robert Mondavi 2002 Opus One. I looked on the internet and I keeps saying this is a $300-400 bottle wine. Is this correct? Is it really that high quality of a wine? It is pretty smooth.
I ask all this because I have zero knowledge of wines or grapes or tannins or anything. I never drink it and am just a beer guy, so any help from knowledgeable wine drinkers would be helpful.

If you knew what you were doing I bet you could have made some good money.

I'm not buying it.
That's like saying I have no clue on baseball cards, but, picking through a lot from the early days to today I came up on this Honus Wagner. Is it worth anything?

A close relative had a large stake in a liquor store that closed. He took all the leftover whiskey and wine stock and put it all in a warehouse and told me I could have anything I wanted anytime I wanted.

It's true I swear, I just picked up the oldest bottle that was there. I've probably only drank wine a couple dozen tines in my life. Hell know I'm afraid to say what I was doing with the wine before I looked it up and figured out what I had.

Ha of course not, that's why I'm going next week to clean it out, hopefully it all hasn't been ruined already. It's all just sitting there in this heat.

The current vintages go for well over $100.00 per bottle. If the 02 has been stored properly, this price is not out of line. I have had a few bottles of Opus One and it can be spectacular. I have been to the winery. They sell small tastes of it for $25.00.

That was a good year for the Creme de Banana. That's the only year they made the yellow label with the black oval.
