My favorite nut is almond. Almond > Macadamia or Macadamia > almond?

wow good question. i've asked myself this same question.

add pecans to the question. all 3 have very high fiber - carb ratios. i'm more partial to almonds these days thanks to that crack blue diamond is peddeling.

Stay away from those blue diamonds. They are near impossible to portion control. The wasabi ones do me in every time.

defintive answer is 'i dont know.' i think theyr'e both pretty good. just get whatever is cheaper

on another note...STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM THE SUGAR FREE CHOCOLATE shite..like herhseys, recess peanut butter cups, etc if you dont want projectile diahrea. plus there's debate as to whether the 'sugar alcohols' (which is what creates said flatulance) really are absorbed as carbs or not.

better not to start getting off track and snooping around for 'fake carb' treats. that leads to pain and suffering.

Mackie Shilstone is always going off on the wonderful health properties of almonds. Both for diet and weight loss.

But, with nuts you need to be careful because they work fine on a low carb diet, but eating too many can knock you arse out of Atkins.

I can't remember if they are really even allowed in induction.

Nope.

And I am starting to think about taking induction further than 2 weeks.

And I know the definitive answer is "idk" :P just being dumb. One treat I know that is atkins-friendly is sugar-free jello and some reddi-whip.. but I'm not a big sweets kinda guy so I probably wont ever use that

P.S.
The past couple of days have been rough on the ol throne. Not hard to go but too easy.. so to speak. At least I know the weight should be falling off

Induction is not just 2 weeks but as long as you need it until you get closer to your goal weight.

well yes and no..transitioning from induction into owl (ongoing weightloss) should happen after the 2 weeks. from my past experience i've found once the fat-burning ketosis engine is in high gear, you can add another 20 or so carbs and still be fine. just dont get too crazy.

the point is that i dont think you necessarily burn fat better at less than 20 carbs or at 40 carbs...to me the '20 or less' is really just to get you acclimated to really not consuming carbs at all.

The book says you can stay in induction up to 6 months if you wish.

And I didn't know sugar free jello had nutrasweet in it.

The jello tastes like cold water anyway. I've used it as a snack along the way the last year and most times it just sits there forever because it has no flavor.

I am so excited to see some other people doing Atkins. I have everything going against me: Female, over 50, and only 5'1". Have only lost 10 pounds on it in a month, but at least I have not been hungry.

BTW guys I read further into the book.. My metabolic resistence is super low, what does that mean for me in the long run? Does it mean that my metabolism was basically just waiting for me to kick start it whereas some people's metabolism is just stubborn? 8 pounds in the 1st 2 weeks of induction is supposed to be a low metabolic resistence.. I did 12 in 1 week...

Well, being male helps. People who have more to lose will lose faster. You should be able to drop off a lot pretty fast. If you are under 35, even better.

When I was young, my metabolism was rocket fast. The older I get, the slower it becomes. I adore carbs too, which is bad. But with me, the more carbs I eat, the more I want, and I stay hungry.

You should do great! If you can add in some exercise, you should be amazed.

I have been doing a lot of work in the yard, but I need to be on the treadmill. However, after yard work, my back and hips hurt so bad I cannot stand it. Hopefully by the time another month goes by, I will have a handle on most of the yardwork and will be able to hit that cardio. Then I think I will have better results. I need to drop another 30 pounds.
