I think fruit is the only thing that holds me back from doing it. I still eat some whole wheat bread though. Maybe like four slices a week. I know ketosis would help me more but I just don't want to give up the fruits like I've been eating them. Plus I've been losing steadily and I don't feel like I'm depriving myself.

Do what's working for you

I love fruits also. I don't regret ever switching to paleo, but it didn't seem to work for me as I'd hoped. Before I started dieting, I had blood sugar problems.. and it's totally possible that I still do, but because I don't have carbs and sugars all the time I just don't know it. If I still have problems dealing with carbs/sugars, then it makes sense that paleo didn't work out well for me also.

you can have berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries..) or at least i do..and this is fine.

i either pour heavy cream (and sprinkle some splenda) on top, or i buy the 'sugar free' land-o-lakes whipped cream which is delicious.

never had a problem staying in ketosis having a big old bowl of strawberries or blueberries and cream and the health benefits are worth it.

the berries keep me from missing fruit.

also i do indulge in sugar/simple carbs before i race..i just dont make it a habit to eat candy bars & stuff so i limit it to when i need that extra sugar hit during particularly hard efforts.

after the race, instead of saying 'i'm out of ketosis so frick it i'll eat what i want', i mentally tell myself to stay the course..and it works well. after a few hours the sugar-hunger dies away again and i'm back to normal.

I've really considered that. I guess it's just berries are a little more expensive than things like apples and bananas.

today's workout was week 1 day 1 of c25k. I've done c25k before and only made to week 3 iirc. I'm not going to ONLY do c25k.. I did it today, tomorrow I'll go to the gym and run a mile after my workout. Friday I'll be headed to austin all day so that more than likely will be a rest day. Saturday c25k, sunday gym, etc.

Hulk, do you have access to any trails? I seem to remember you saying you had problems with shin splints in the past. I know running on trails is a lot easier on your joints\knees, I'm sure that would translate to your shins as well. Not to mention that it does a better job of building the stabilizing muscles in your legs.

Speaking of trail running, I found two trail 5K's in Auburn this fall and I'm really thinking about signing up. There is a 10k next month but I know I'm nowhere near able to do that.

Hard to turn down a free lunch. We're out of the busy season at work so the free lunches are probably gone until August for me. How bad was it myth?

Baked chicken and lots of grilled sausage with salad.

Calories probably not terrible, plus fairly low carb but the salt will hit me hard tomorrow.
