if someone does this ALONE .. they will lose weight .. lay off the beer and eat EVERY meal at home .. and you really don't have to be careful with what you prepare .. i am convinced any dish you make at home contains 25% fewer calories than the same dish made at any restaurant ..

Sodium hulk.

The chicken from KFC has TONS TONS TONS.

The salad probably had tons tons tons in the dressing.

That is water weight. Just as frustrating as a real gain, but not really a real gain.

Are you counting calories at all? I know atkins tells you not to worry too much about calories but I couldn't quite believe that.

I keep mine around 1200 each day. Not saying you need to do anything like that but at the end of the day you do need to eat fewer than you burn.

Water weight. It will be gone as your sodium level balances out again.

CAD

You might have time to catch up. Monday lunch at Casa Garcia and Wednesday I have another lunch. Oh and I also probably have to take my sister to lunch. So 3 minefields I need to get through the next 7 days.

But

323/195.8/185

Edit

Actually for fast food, the sodium level isn't as high as I thought it would be for KFC chicken.

I still say it is nothing more than water weight.

Yeah the KFC chicken isn't too bad but it is a little high. It tasted phenominal

It is what it is. I've done enough reading on several forums. Weight fluctuation is very common and some people have said they actually gained 10 pounds in their 3rd and 4th weeks before it started falling off again, but they kept losing inches regardless of the weight gain. I plan on sticking with induction until the 28th, then moving to OWL.

Be sure to have a big mama's home cooked meal before heading back home.

I know Monday I am going to eat like it is the end of the world so that will slow me down a bit.

I told myself I'm going to stay in induction until 4 weeks and ill probably do just that, but I'm considering moving onto OWL come Monday. I really miss eating almonds as a snack.

Stay strong Hulk. You should stay in induction longer if you can take it.

How long should I stay you think? It's not a good idea to stay in induction the whole time you're on the diet imo.. not if you want to make it a lifestyle change anyway.

I've been on or near it for a year. The only time I've been off induction is when I get bored to death with my menu and add red beans and sausage. A few times I went off and added red beans with rice. But I've easily been under the 20grams for 6 to 8 months of the last year.

You've just started your journey (feel like a hippie saying that).

See what Cad has to say. He is the wise sensei on Atkins.

Back to 347 at least. Definitely the 2 pounds were water weight. My stomach is starting to cramp from no bms, and I took a "soft colon cleanser" and started using benefiber as well.. it's really stuck lol

I've taken the ducolax softener before to get things rolling.

I have no idea if it is true but reading online, it appears you shouldn't take laxatives as your body can get to the point it won't work without them.

The ducolax (softener) always seemed to get things moving along after a couple of doses. Just be sure you are near the home base for when the hounds are released.

If you really keep experiencing pain, you may need to head to the doctor, but he will probably end up telling you to hit the laxatives.

Good luck! Hope the cleanse works.

Anyone who thinks Atkins is bad for you and your heart health, PLEASE watch "fat head". It's a movie to discredit the movie "supersize me" but he goes into a very deep and thorough explanation of how cholesterol works in your body and what creates good cholesterol and what creates bad cholesterol. It is the very basis of why Atkins works and why people's heart health dramatically improves as they lose the weight.

The explanation starts at around halfway through the movie.

Back to 346.

Hope it keeps going down this time. I think I'm going to weigh in once a week starting tomorrow.

there was some heated about this earlier in this thread a few months ago ... some like to do it everyday, others don't .. prolly not a right way or wrong way to do it ... i personally think if you weigh yourself everyday, the fluctuations would start to discourage you .. i know others think they can track how different foods affect them by monitoring gains and loses more closely ... i can see both sides ...

I don't think it's discouraging so much as frustrating. I hated seeing my weight go up despite doing the same stuff..

There's a really handy online food journal called fitday.com

I did one for today, as this is what I'm planning on eating.

I've been using fitday.com for about a year.

There are probably better sites but I was too lazy to find a better one once I started.

Then once I had a few months of info on the site there was no way I was going to re-enter that info.

The nutritional information section needs work. They don't have nearly enough information.

But as I said, I've still be using it everyday for about a year.

The whole weigh-in thing is personal preference. Whatever keeps you moving forward is the best.

yep.

I went swimming today for an hour. I think I found a new favorite form of exercise. The hour flew by, and I was so relaxed. Once I got out I realized how physically tired i was.. but i feel great. Almost a euphoria, today's just been such a relaxing and great day even though I didn't do anything spectacular. For once, things just feel right in my life. I have to say, making the decision to lose weight is definitely the best choice I've ever made. Just the little bit I've lost so far.. I can feel a big difference in myself. Thank you all for your support!
