I got down to 185lbs last week but already started back on another bulk phase so I'm back to a 3000 cal diet. It's so nice going from 1800 to 3000!!

I have basically done carb cycling instead of straight keto. Sometimes I need fruit or sweet potato.

But I don't cheat. It will increase cravings so you have to be super careful.

Kind of feeling the same way. I've never officially got into keto (testing for ketosis) but I had dropped to about 20-30 carbs a day for about 3 weeks. I've lifted the beer ban, so I'm sure I've slipped in that area.

Other than that, I'm pretty good on the food side because meat and green veggies are my favorite foods anyway, and avoiding bread, pasts, starches, etc have been shockingly easy. But I do miss those sweet citrus fruits, beer and brown water.

Weighing in Friday, so we'll see.

Once again I got curious and weighed.

306/284.2/220

Still moving in the right direction. Planning a cheat meal to Ninos Saturday night, but planning to keep the calories to 2500 to minimize damage. Planning an allowance of 1500 calories there, which will be easy to do

I do two to three days of low carb (usually below 30 grams). Then I do one day of under 100 grams of carbs. That day is usually maintenance calories where the other two are deficit calorie days. And I usually lose after the higher carb day. I have been losing 2-3 pounds a week this way. But I do not have cheat days or anything like that and I love veggies. So my "cheats" on the high carb days are bananas, sweet potatoes, or watermelon with strict calorie and portion controls.

Normally I would fit the calories into my daily allowance of 1800, or only eat half like you've mentioned. However, I'm looking forward to a higher-calorie day. The past week or so I've felt very tired, lethargic, unmotivated, and weaker at the gym.. I'm worried that 1800 cals/day is too low for me and that's the cause of the lack of energy, but it's working right now so I want to stick with it. If that's the case, then a higher cal day could be just what I need. If I don't start feeling any better at 1800 cals/day, I may bump up the cals a little bit and see how that works for me.

Why do you think it's too low?

Just got to be careful. Once you start increasing your daily intake then those cheat meals don't disappear as easily

That is true. It's a learning process, I have to find what works best for me. I always thought it was keto or bust but I've been enjoying my diet a lot, enjoying the flexibility. I'd rather eat 2000 a day with no higher calorie days if it makes me feel better on a day to day basis, but I also want to be sure that I csn lose weight at 2000 a day.

Oh okay, thanks man. Yeah, if I did this right, I'm at 1900 calories for the day, 150g protein, 80g carbs and 30g fats. Been looking into carb cycling so thanks for the advice.

You can stay at a big deficit each day and then have one big day so you still have a "normal" deficit for the week. I have been reading a lot about not eating enough calories lately lol. It is never sustainable to be tired and sluggish for workouts.

Yep, you just have to track that big day very accurately as well, can't go way off of the rails like I have always had a tendency to do.

Eating too little can cause weight loss stalls and plateaus, lack of energy, weakness, etc. I seem to have come out of whatever funk I was in, so maybe it wasn't the caloric deficit causing my issues. Only time will tell. For now, since I feel better I'm going to reduce the planned caloric intake on my cheat meal tomorrow night to 1,000 and stick to 2,000 cals tomorrow.

What do you all do when the going gets tough?

Cut my calories from 2400 to 1900 to lose some weight. Also cutting out all sweets and adding in a lot more vegetables. I'd like to keep it up until January 1st and see where I'm at.

I've tried losing weight in the past, but I always get "triggered" by something. Maybe it's a birthday party and I have a piece of cake. Maybe it's a cheat meal on a Friday. Maybe it's just a few chips and salsa.

But every time I give myself a little, I take a lot. I slip into a two week to two month binger where I eat nothing but unhealthy food.

I'm trying to not cheat or have anything unhealthy at all. And I'm feeling it today. It's fricking killing me and it's only been a week.

Stringed the best technique I have found personally is to never cheat unless it is a planned cheat. Sometimes this is a little easier said than done but you just have to commit to that rule.
