This thread confuses me, so many of you act like carbs are like poison
I lost 50 pounds and would eat over 300g of carbs on my workout days.
They really aren't that bad.
I could see avoiding them if you are doing RFL for a cycle but that's it.
Yes the more carbs you eat the more your body will use said carbs to burn as energy instead of fat stores BUT the more fat you eat the more fat your body will store so as long you are eating at deficit, carbs or fat it doesn't matter you will lose weight.

I did the high protein thing. Was great for weight lifting, sucked for running.

Day 2 of keto has been rough.
Labor intensive job so getting through the day with a spinach/grilled chicken salad as my main meal was rough. Definitely got light headed. Gonna have to do something different for lunch while I'm still in this adjustment period
Had wings for dinner with a dab of ranch. Delicious

That is why there are several options of diets listed in the OP. I understand it is possible. The reason most hate on carbs because it is more satiating. Look, I could get into it and rehash my hate, but I've already posted on it many, many times. In short, you don't "need" carbs to live. You need fats and proteins. Carbs are NOT an essential nutrient for the body.

Once you get into ketosis you'll feel much better.

I get it but you need carbs for weight lifting
On workout days during my cut I'd eat about 320g of carbs and only about 50g of fat
On rest days it would be about 30g of carbs and 50g of fat
I would cycle my carbs depending on if I worked out or not. It's a great way to maintain lean mass without storing any fat.

For many in this thread they are poison. Me personally I fricking love carbs, problem is my gi track hates them. If I eat them I get gas so bad I'm bent over in pain, and the shits oh man the shits are crazy. So I stay away unless I am lean bulking and then I keep it no more than 50g over bodyweight and all have to be after lifting.
For most others in this thread, they have an unhealthy relationship with sugar and crave them like cameras and they aren't needed and also make it easier to lose weight do to the thermal effect of protein(close to 40%) and the appetite suppressant effects of being in ketosis. Also for many they have insulin resistance problems and a bunch of new studies those with this condition tend to lose fat much easier once in ketosis.
Now the post you referred to, I was simply stating how to make your self stop craving sugar filled desserts and start craving things like chicken and steak.
Now my goto diet when people ask is iifym plus IF. In my opinion it does the best job of teaching new the basics of nutrition. That is unless they want to do something like a fat fast or RFL diet. It forces people to weigh and log everything. From there they can adjust and see what they prefer. But in general people tend to drift towards lower carb because of satiety and the ease of fat loss.
But to be clear there are many many health benefits of going pretty much no carbs, I don't know if any outside of increased endurance and slight strength increases from going high carb.

No you don't need them when lifting especially on a cut. Sure you might notice a slight dip in performance, but that will be only temporary and once you switch to burning fat for fuel the strength comes back. Now if you are lifting for or performing endurance exercise, yea you need them.
Now when trying to gain it helps as it's a pain to try and gain without them.

I didn't get 4 hours of walking in yet.
Haven't eaten yet. I'm prepping right now.
Not really hungry. It's weird.

Eat more plants, eat less meat

We are on a protein sparing modified fast diet so we have to eat a ton of protein and can only have green veggies. Our cals are crazy low though, 1200 max for him and 1000 max for me. Plus it's supposed to be 4 hours of walking a day with a little lifting twice a week. I'm subbing airdyne for the walking tonight to watch the games.
So long story short this shite is gonna suck for us no matter what and no matter how much green veggies we eat.

The not being hungry thing is normal. Every run of the rfl I have done, I have had to force feed myself at times.

I'd like to know more about this. My biggest problem is my sweet tooth. I can eat a great, healthy meal and be stuffed and then I see a cookie 30 minutes later and I'm craving sweets.

I'm convinced if I had off everyday from work I would never have to eat. I can keep my mind occupied all damn day and not think about a "lunch break"

Oh really good sir? Why not instead of calling me names you go ahead and prove me wrong?
Oh, that's right, you can't. That is because what I am saying is based on biology and basic human needs. You haven't a clue what you are talking about and just throw out names when you don't understand.
