Place thick slices of onons in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Stuff butt with garlic, season well and place on top of the onion slices.
Cover 2/3 way with root beer and slow cook all day.
Carefully remove butt and discard all liquid.
Pull pork and return to slow cooker with your favorite sauce.

I second this recipe....let it marinate overnight then put it on the oven....takes about 1.5 hrs per lb and comes out perfect!

That guy's dry rub is dangerously close to mine. I also agree with brining the pork before cooking.

I know this came up in the last pork butt thread I participated in, but it really just serves no purpose for a pork butt.
