So he asks for a recipe for a slow cooker because he doesn't have a smoker and you link him to smokingmeatforums.com? That makes sense I guess.

I've made Emeril's pulled pork and it came out delicious. It's not in a slow cooker though.

Seems kinda big for a slow cooker. I know that weird blonde chick on the food networker cooked on in her oven. Looked pretty tasty.

never really understood why people want to waste a good boston butt roast for pulled pork.

man, take that roast and make a good gravy with some white beans on rice.

I put enough chicken broth in bottom of crock pot to cover bottom. Turn on.
Cut slits about every inch. Stuff with rosemary, garlic, onions, and coat with various seasonings(allspice, red pepper, black pepper etc). I've always seared in cast iron before inserting in to pot, but I have found that it does very little to final product. Let cook for ~6 hours

Did this last week, Fantastic and EASY

4 lbs pork roast (shoulder or butt)
2 large onions
1 cup ginger ale
1 (18 ounce) bottle favorite barbecue sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)

Directions:
1 - Slice one onion and place in crock pot.
2 - Put in the roast and cover with the other onion, sliced. Pour over the ginger ale. Cover and cook on LOW for about 12 hours.
3 - Remove the meat, strain and save the onions, discard all liquid. With two forks, shred the meat, discarding any remaining fat, bones or skin. Most of the fat will have melted away.
4 - Return the shredded meat and the onions to the crock pot, stir in the barbecue sauce. Continue to cook for another 4 to 6 hours on LOW.

A 4lb butt doesn't need anything close to 12 hours, much less 16 total. Just saying, you could cut those numbers by a third if you want to go about it with that method. ETA: I would also keep the juice, because its delicious, and I would definitely dilute the bbq sauce to prevent it from burning.
