Fair enough. I'm gonna keep my Akorn around for such occurrences. That thing has been an absolute beast. Love that cooker.

What makes these ceramic cookers better than a Weber Kettle grill? Every time I look at one I ask myself that question every time. I have used a Weber Kettle for years and at no point have I thought it lacked in any area that a ceramic cooker could provide. I wouldn't mind Weber's smoker for the added capacity but again it doesn't seem like a ceramic cooker provides any more capacity than the Kettle grill.

Fuel efficiency of a Kamado over a Weber kettle is fairly significant. I would say you're buying about 4 bags of charcoal to my 1.

I Don't have a Primo but have a BGE. Ceramics are the way to go IMO after farting around with the metal cookers for so many years. I chose the egg over the Primo solely due to the price cut I got on the egg.

Jump on in the world of ceramics, you wont be disappointed in your purchase.

Temp control and versatility

My primo can do anything my oven can do but better. I am a big BBQ fan, therefore a ceramic cooker was a must.On 10+ hr cooks I can hold temp X within +/- 5 degrees. The old webers I have had over the yrs couldn't hold a temp within +/- 20 of desired.
For me it just works. I use it to cook a variety of items, brisket, pork shoulder, ribs, drunk chicken, fish, pizza, cornbread, baked mac n cheese

For one, a heck of a lot less charcoal to get to temp and once temp is acquired, it will remain steady. The lump charcoal can be reused bc once you cut the air, the heat goes out. I smoked 2 pork shoulders side by side for 14 hours without having to add charcoal. And, once the temp was reached and steady, I could've gone fishing or something cooking.

I used to be a kettle guy and still use one at the lake house. Like has been mentioned here the efficiency of the ceramic and ease of control is vastly superior. You could probably get somewhat close to the same results but it would require a lot more effort, attention and work.

They cook very efficiently, so there is minimum air movement through the grill which translates to a moisture cook. In addition, the ability to control temps for long periods is unmatchable. Lots of people talk shite about the ceramics till they cook and eat off one...

I still feel a weber performer and a WSM is an awesome combo. I know ceramics are awesome and people love them, but I also love my performer and WSM. I like that it actually burns more fuel as I believe it produces a cleaner fire and makes the meat taste smokier than off of a ceramic. I can also get 16 hour plus burn times in my WSM without adding any fuel or adjusting the dampers.

yes its worth the money.

If you cook for a lot of people get the Primo XL. If you dont get a Kamado Joe Classic. I own both. I only use the Primo when I'm cooking for a bunch of people due to the surface area. The reason is the Kamado Joe is easier to clean because it has an ash tray that collects the ashes. The primo does not have one and its just a little bit more of a pain to clean. They also make a larger Kamado Joe now if you need more surface area. I think they run about $1600.

Larger Kamado Joe

Kamado Joe Classic
This comes with a free Joetessori. $250 value. excellent deal.
