I think it is a good burger, no argument. Not even in the top 10 for the city. If that is hate, then so be it.
I just throw hate on the idea that its some transcendent burger. There is a burger place with the same burger in every city.
That being said, I dig the dark, island vibe. And, that stretch of Esplanade is my favorite street in the city, from a picturesque standpoint

If they fixed the pest problem I'll try it again. Used to be infested.

The gourmet burger has taken over Nola in the last ten years. I don’t put POC in that category. It still holds its own in its bar burger category. Probably the best
There is some physiology at play too. it’s not as good as its popularity grew. Doesn’t have a popular chef behind it, doesn’t have a bright new decor with the lightbulbs that hang, doesn’t have an extensive beer or wine list etc

I haven't been to PoC in ages. I don't remember the burger as much as I remember the baked potato. They were perfectly baked and came out steaming.

I want to try this place because it's beef driven, but the person I was with this past weekend doesn't do beef.
We ended up at Mopho, Palace Cafe for Sunday brunch, Seaworthy for oysters and caviar, Stanley for a breakfast. It was a very productive weekend.

You can find better places in NOLA. The best thing about PoC is that it's close to Cosimos...which is a great 1/4 bar.

The place is a death-trap, maze with only one exit.
There is a door through the kitchen, plus you could go out the back room through the window

It's a very good burger and baked potato. But let's be real... it's getting the monsoon, along with the burger and potato, that puts this place over the top.
I've been there at least 75 times over the last 20 years... Every year or so, they raise the prices by a quarter or so and shrink the burger a bit. I remember when I first started going there, I could get the burger, potato, monsoon, tax and tip and be out of there for $20. Made a great start to a night of college drinking on Bourbon.
If you ever go and don't feel like / can't drink, they will do an awesome cherry coke or cherry diet coke with about a dozen cherries and pouring cherry juice into the drink.

PoC is crap, IMO. Fake bacon bits? Really?
It’s OK, but just OK. It’s more about nostalgia and and environment than actual food.

PoC is an institution. Love that it’s the exact same place doing the exact same thing since I was a kid.
Great burger. Great drinks. Great time.

This right here. Serve me that burger, potato, or drink on their own, in a random environment, and meh. Serve me all three after a hard couple days at JazzFest before I crash and it is one of life's great pleasures.
