FLAVOR: Everything in this sandwich tasted amazing. The pickles were tart, the mayo added a smear of fatty comfort, and the chicken was outstandingly juicy and fresh. OVERALL: I was wholeheartedly surprised and impressed by how good Popeyes' sandwich was, especially considering its price.
WINNER: POPEYES. Popeyes' classic chicken sandwich was clearly better than its competitors in every way. The chicken was incomparably crispy, juicy, and fresh, and all the elements of the sandwich were well balanced. Each bite was bursting with flavor. And its price tag is also the most appealing — at $4, it's the cheapest sandwich in the lineup.

POPEYES' CLASSIC CHICKEN SANDWICH, $4 — Popeyes added the classic chicken sandwich to its menu in May. Before, there was just the po'boy. The contrast in thickness between the Arby's chicken patty and Popeyes' patty was simply stunning. This sandwich was huge, even though it was cheaper than the others.

BUN: A sturdy toasted brioche with a hint of sweetness. TEXTURE: The chicken was unbelievably crispy, thick, and juicy, with a crinkly, crunchy layer of fried batter. The pickles too were crunchy

Have you experienced the palette orgasm from the Popeye’s sandwich yet, Arse?

NOT!! I eat there 2-3 times a month when in NOLA for Chemo and its good. But if Blue Oak is your standard for GOAT you have low expectations for BBQ.

lol! What a simple mind
Both my parents were in the Army, so I move around a good bit until HS graduation, I spent 10.5 years in the Marine Corps. So unlike you my food knowledge spans more than just the city I'm currently living in!
Again, I said Blue Oak is good, but you guys need to get out more!

So I don’t eat fast food more than once every few months but this thread convinced me the try this sandwich. It’s by far the best fast food chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. Not even close really.

I never eat fast food, but had to try this beast. It is a great sandwich.

Since this thread is about to hit 30 pgs for a fast food sandwich, I decided to keep my head on a swivel for a Popeye's. On my way to pick up my diabeetus meds on Terry Pkwy., I saw store #2068 on Belle Chasse Hwy was still advertising the sandwich. I swung through the drive thru and got the spicy combo w/ red beans and a Diet Coke.
I pulled up to the window, paid and was handed my food in under 40 seconds. Praise be!!!
When I returned to my office, the ladies were all telling me how they loved the sandwiches. When they finally shut up, I was able to unload my sandwich from the wrapper. Props to Popeyes for the wrapping in foil and keep paper on the bottom of the sandwich for easy eating.
The sandwich comes with a battered and fried breast, which I think was about the size of two tenders, hearty pickles, sauce on both sides of the meat and a bun similar to brioche.
I took one bite and thought it was pretty good. I could have used more sauce then what was provided. To make the sandwich more moist, I dumped my beans on it as suggested by CBandits82. This made the sandwich better. When I was done, I was still hungry. If I order it again, I'll just get two sandwiches with no sides.
Overall it's a very good fast food chicken sandwich. I'd score it a 7.4 as delivered, but 8.3 with the beans.
My unofficial chicken sandwich scorecard is as follows:
1.) Blue Oak
2.) Cobu
3.) Popeye's
3b.) Wendy's chicken biscuit
5.) Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich
Stay fat, my friends.

It's a good sandwich. I wouldn't call it a beast. Glass is a lot smaller and richer than I am.
