Maybe I’m jaded by prices but for all the food he got $45 seems about right. I have a family of four and besides fast food it’s hard to get a meal under that

It's a couple of bucks high, but him lieing about what he ordered is a bad look for him

Just for shits and giggles

Yes, I realize the large is 8 patties or the equivalent to 4 double cheeseburgers but that works out to $15 a piece before fries or drink, what a steal

Poboy express is as the name alludes...it's local fast food with a slight seafood flair. The one in Central occupies an old fast track building and up until tonight, for me, was a reasonable local establishment to quickly feed a family of 4 without paying sit-down restaurant prices.

Pontchartrain poboys in mandeville has a 12 inch hamburger poboy for $12.

True. But their actual pattie burger is $11 and it’s a single pattie on a bun

BTW we love this place

Jed’s 12” cheeseburger poboy is 12.95 and can easily feed two people

Poboy Express has always been over priced

The first one I posted, what I ordered, was not double patty...it was 2 single patties

You’re laughing but they’ve always charged like $0.50 for a cup of water.

Fair enough.

Man. I just feel like.. If Curbside can sell their double patty burger for $9.49 in a much nicer location with I assume more overhead costs, using better ingredients... then $19 at a drive thru that uses Sysco fries and regular ole ordered beef is pretty high. Poboy bread ain't that expensive.

I’m not saying it isn’t expensive, it just doesn’t phase me I guess now

His food seemed like a normal order for a family of 4 and $45 seems in the ballpark to what I’m used to paying for a family pickup

We go out to team and get drinks shite gets to $70 easy at a fricking “ cheap” Mexican place

For example. Go get 4 meals at McDonald’s now and it will cost you around $30

Life fricking sucks thanks Obama

What's insane is that there are people in here defending a 6 inch burger poboy with cheese and fries for $25..
I believe you LSUsmart and agree the prices are outrageous, but the small (regular) poboys at poboy express are more than 6 inches and the large ones are double that. I mean a large poboy at poboy express is really designed for 2 people. With that said, Im not trying to argue by any means.

Edit: id say its closer to 10 inches than 6 inches, but itd be fair to meet halfway. At 9 inches

All bickering aside, we've ordered this exact thing in the past and I think it was under $25. They decided to take all of their prices off the menu for a reason I guess, because people would drive away. Now that I know they've nearly doubled in prices due to pandemic, supply shortages, price of beef in India or whatever I will choose not to eat there any more.

I guess I'm glad there are still people willing to support them??

Yeh the problem with poboy express is they are a local establishment that basically serves fast food style food

So they can’t match the prices, but you also aren’t getting better food really

Went last Sunday morning and got two #1s, a big breakfast with hot cakes, and extra chocolate milk

Was $24

I guess it's the first time I've been hit with pandemic aided "sticker shock" and of course it has to do with food

20+ bucks for a cheeseburger poboy is insane no matter how you slice. Which I guess is three times

That's like saying paying $25 for pizza is insane when there are 8in and 24in pizzas

It’s definitely high, but when you realize you’re getting 2 patties, it makes sense and is not shocking. No doubt, it’s a couple of dollars higher than it should be. I would never order a poboy if I knew it was $20.

Now, if I’m wrong and it’s 1 patty, then I’ll stand corrected. But a burger on a bun is $10 and a double burger is $20. So a poboy with 2 patties is the same as a double burger, regardless of the size of the bread.

I think they have 7-inch and 14-inch.

I already mentioned a much better restaurant in BR that offers a much better two patty poboy for 12.95
