Couldn't find anything on a search figured I'd ask.
Anybody know where you can find good poboy bread in Houston?

I am definitely gonna check out the poboys at this place one day.
Do you know if they will sell you just the poboy bread though?

Texas Borders Bar and Grill in Katy makes po-boys - and they ship in Leidenheimer's French Bread. I had some success over the years just going in and asking the manager if I could buy a loaf. They would usually sell me one or two for a few bucks. It comes frozen - bring it home and stick in your oven. Now they are the shorter ones - about 15 inches long. Preheat oven to 350, bake for 3-4 min. Place it in over frozen - don't defrost it.
Another option I found that makes for a decent - if not perfect - substitute, is the french baguette from Panera. I made many po-boys using that bread while in Katy.

I like soft poboy bread, not mouth cutting crumb machines

Go find a legit Vietnamese bakery. They will have what you seek.

I like both.
People who act snobby over po boys are annoying. It's a simple sandwich and it was born as such.

I stopped into Hebert's on Dairy Ashford last week and they had a Zip Bread sign on the wall leading me to believe they're serving poboys on Leidenheimer. Maybe you could buy some from them? I considered asking if they'd order some extras for me but I did not...yet.

Cajun Stop and BB’s Cafe are the only spots I’ve heard that use Leidenheimer bread

Hidden gem that fulfills my Cajun needs. Walking distance from my office, too.

Leidenheimer is only good if it's heated. Otherwise you will spend an eternity chewing and have crumbs everywhere.

What about you Dallas baws? Any good poboy bread up here? I’m craving some debris poboys this weekend.
